Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre is currently seeking artists + technicians of diverse disciplines to apply for Production positions with our company. Our production team will mount 3 productions during the season, with a compensation package tailored to their roles, including complimentary housing within easy walking distance of the theatre. Fresh, clean mountain air, and some of the coldest water you+rsquo;ve ever felt+hellip;also included with every contract.
We are seeking experienced theatrical professionals to come join our team. Applicants should possess a strong work ethic, a collaborative mindset, and technical skills specific to their discipline. Professionalism and dedication to high-quality work are essential.
COSTUME DESIGNER for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Urinetown (SEEKING ONE)
Start/End Date: June 8 - July 3, 2026 (Possible start date+ndash;June 1)
Compensation: $6,400 ($3200 per show)
Housing Provided
Travel Provided (reimbursed)
Reports To: Production Manager
Primary Responsibilities
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
-Collaborate closely with the Director and Creative Team to design two (of our 3) repertory productions+ndash; DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, URINETOWN
-Develop and execute all elements of the Costume design
-Work in partnership with the Costume Shop staff pre-season, and during production time..
-Work is very +ldquo;hands on+rdquo; in the Costume Shop during production, with a small shop staff (4).
-Manage spending + budget in coordination with Costume Shop Manager.
-Plan, manage, and execute pre-season Costume work as needed.
-Ship as much of the costume package as possible to arrive in Grand Lake by June 1. Earlier, if possible.
At RMRT, Hair/Wig + Makeup fall under this Designer job, with assistance from Costume Shop Manager, Wardrobe Manager, and costume shop staff.
For this position, significant pre-season work needs to be done before arrival in Grand Lake. There are only 10 days of actual production time in Grand Lake at the theatre before the show goes into Tech and Dress Rehearsals.
Required Skills and Experience:
-Demonstrated professional experience in Costume design.
-Additional experience in a theatrical costume shop.
-Strong interpersonal skills for working with shop staff and company actors.
-Creative and adaptive problem-solving abilities, both technical and artistic.
-Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time-management, multitasking, and communication skills.
-Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
-Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
-Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize effectively.
