The Sharon Playhouse, the historic, professional, nonprofit theater located in the foothills of the beautiful Berkshire Mountains, is seeking to fill the role of Associate Costume Shop Manager for its 2026 season. The Sharon Playhouse offers you the opportunity to work alongside professional artists from NYC, the tri-state area, and beyond. Our upcoming MainStage season includes Swingtime Canteen, 42nd Street and Come From Away, as well as, our Spotlight Gala, Writer+rsquo;s Playground and a special reading of The Divine Sister.Our YouthStage season includes Pooh+rsquo;s Parade, Matilda Jr., Big Bad, Shrek, Kids, the Launchpad Company production of Zombie Prom, and a school partnership production of Shrek, Kids with Indian Mountain School.
The Associate Costume Shop Manager reports to the Leadership Team and Costume Shop Manager.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
The Associate Costume Shop Manager is responsible for assisting in the overall operation of the costume shop including design integration, construction, fitting, repairing, cleaning, storing, and cataloging of costumes.
Oversees all day-to-day shop activities including personnel, equipment, supplies, inventory, workroom, costume storage areas and local costume rentals.
The Associate Costume Shop Manager will work to establish and maintain expense budgets and budgetary reports in conjunction with the Resident Designer and Production Manager.
Coordinates shopping for all locally purchased production specific costume items, as needed.
Assists in communicating with Production Stage Management regarding fittings, rehearsal needs, and performer requests.
Participates in cross-departmental production and venue support, as needed, to ensure overall success of all events and productions, including both MainStage and YouthStage programming.
As a member of the senior staff, this position plays an active role in supporting and mentoring Sharon Playhouse apprentices, sharing knowledge and guidance in your area of expertise to foster their growth and development.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently, excellent organizational and time-management skills, a positive attitude and a collaborative spirit.
Advanced skills in sewing, stitching, patterning, cutting, and construction of costumes from beginning to end.
All candidates must have a valid driver+rsquo;s license.
Prior Costume Management Supervision experience preferred.
Proficient in Google Docs.
Dates of employment are from June 8 - September 13, 2026. Compensation: $400 per week for 14 weeks.
