FLSA STATUS: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

COMPENSATION RATE: $33.44 per hour

LOCATION: 170 N. Dearborn St., Chicago, IL 60601



POSITION SUMMARY:

The Goodman Theatre is seeking a skilled and dedicated Draper to join their full-time costume shop staff. The staff draper will work alongside the head draper and costume shop manager to ensure that the shop runs smoothly through all phases of costume construction. Tailoring experience desired but not required.





RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee all phases of costume execution including but not limited to:

-Drape and draft patterns for builds and oversee alterations of existing garments

-Instruct first hand and stitchers in the execution of builds and alterations

-Work with the costume shop manager on labor estimates for shows and projects

-Fit and adjust costumes in collaboration with the designer and actor

-Participate in daily maintenance of the costume shop, storage spaces, supplies and equipment.+nbsp;


QUALIFICATIONS + EXPERIENCE:

-Previous draping experience required; tailoring experience desired

-2 - 3 years professional costume shop experience required

-Experience with both modern and period garments desired

-Must be detail oriented and able to prioritize tasks simultaneously
