Iron Crow Theatre is seeking a Costume Designer for our upcoming production of The View Upstairs by Max Vernon.
This is a deeply human, queer-centered musical that moves between present day and 1970s New Orleans. The design must hold both worlds with clarity and emotional specificity. We are looking for a collaborator who understands that costume is narrative, not decoration.
What We+rsquo;re Looking For
A Baltimore-based (or nearby) designer available for fittings, tech, and performances.
Strong understanding of silhouette, period influence (1970s), and contemporary contrast.
Ability to design for both realism and heightened theatricality.
Sensitivity to queer identity, chosen family, and historical context.
Experience working on musical theatre productions preferred.
Resourceful with budgets and able to execute creatively within financial parameters.
Clear communicator who collaborates well with Director, performers, and production team.
Strong organizational skills (renderings, measurements, fittings, wardrobe tracking).
Responsibilities Include
Developing a cohesive costume design concept in collaboration with the Director.
Providing renderings or visual references.
Sourcing, pulling, building, or coordinating costume construction as appropriate to budget.
Managing fittings and alterations.
Supervising wardrobe needs during tech and performances.
Creating a clear costume plot and tracking system.
Iron Crow Theatre is a professional queer theatre company committed to bold, immersive, and emotionally rigorous work. We are looking for artists who approach storytelling with rigor, respect, and imagination.
