Position Summary:
Are you interested in supporting artists and partnering with General Management? Playwrights Horizons, a leading New York City nonprofit Off-Broadway theater, is seeking a Company Manager to act as the liaison between the artists involved in our productions and the organization on all administrative and front of house matters. Working closely with the Assistant General Manager, you will facilitate the onboarding of all company members (including actors, stage managers, creative team members like directors, designers and writers) and tend to the needs of artists and crew, ensuring all team members feel safe and supported. As our +ldquo;boots on the ground,+rdquo; you represent the institution during performances, and will work with the box office and house management teams to keep our front of house systems operating efficiently.

The Company Manager is an extremely organized and meticulous individual who plays well with others and has the ability to think on their feet and problem solve. The ideal candidate will lean on their empathy, patience, and sense of humor as they navigate the needs of each individual production and determine the best way to offer support to our artists and audiences. This position is five days a week and will include nights and weekends during performances. This position also requires in person attendance during performances.

Responsibilities:


Administrative Duties
Coordinate all Actor+rsquo;s Equity Association (AEA) contracts and payroll paperwork, process weekly company payroll, and deliver paychecks to all company members as needed
Process weekly AEA reports + injury reports, and ensure timely delivery of all payments owed to the union
Coordinate all Assistant Designer + Assistant Director agreements, ensure timely completion of onboarding and payroll paperwork
Reconcile the General Management company cards and expenses each month
Execute other duties as assigned

Logistical and Artist Service Duties
Check in daily with companies during rehearsals and performances, maintaining a pulse on the company
Arrange and book all travel, accommodation, and on site hospitality for all out-of-town artists
Ensure the Playwrights Horizons artist apartment is clean, maintained and prepped for company use or outside rentals
Ensure the cleanliness and safety of all rehearsal/performance spaces, green rooms, refrigerators and dressing rooms, prior to the start of rehearsal and/or tech
Work with Stage Management to ensure they have the supplies and information needed to do their job efficiently
Alongside the Assistant General Manager, ensure our productions are following union regulations and guidelines
Announce, post and distribute critical information to company members, serving as a liaison between the company and the staff
Serve as point person in the organization of both the Opening Night and Closing Night events of every production
Along with Production Coordinator, ensure first aid kits are stocked for show companies
Serve as point person for our Playwrights Horizons Theater School students and faculty attending shows and observing technical rehearsals

Front of House/Box Office
Act as the Playwright+rsquo;s representative during all dress rehearsals and performances, checking in with the company, front of house, and box office teams frequently
Create and manage company ticket policies for every production, acting as a point person for any and all company ticketing requests, including house seats, opening night tickets, complimentary tickets and production seats during previews
Partner with the Assistant General Manager to hire and train all front-of-house positions, including house managers, door persons, ushers and concessionaires
Schedule all part-time front of house staff, including house managers, ushers, door persons, and concessionaires
Work with the box office to send out daily availability reports, communicate ticket needs with third party vendors, arrange press tickets and release holds based on the contractual needs of each production
Brainstorm creative solutions with our marketing and box office teams to ensure high audience attendance at every performance
When needed, aid the box office in processing ticket orders
Maintain accurate and up to date box office records, including nightly box office and complimentary ticket reports
Skills + Qualifications:
1-3 years of prior related work experience, preferably at a performing arts institution or live entertainment venue
Attention to detail, and ability to creatively problem solve and a desire to grow in the field of theatrical management
Comfortable with managing multiple tasks at once
Ability to maintain discretion with confidential and sensitive information. Able to pivot and respond quickly and appropriately to the often personal needs of guest artists.
Strong customer service skills, strong ability to communicate clearly
Sense of humor is a plus!
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace is excellent, experience with Tessitura Ticketing Software is even better.
Compensation:
Playwrights Horizons offers a comprehensive benefits package including 10 days (two weeks) of vacation, four personal days, 10 sick days, and many paid Holiday office closures. Employees have access to individual medical, dental, and vision coverage, with various plan options available through Oxford Health Plans. Playwrights Horizons partially subsidizes health and dental insurance and provides vision insurance at no charge to employees. Our benefits package further includes life insurance policy, a 403b retirement plan, and flexible spending accounts for medical, dental, and dependent care expenses. Salary:
$60,000-$67,000 per year, commensurate with experience
