JOB SUMMARY:

The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire is seeking applicants to join their full-time Production Crew for the upcoming faire and holiday seasons (May-December 2026). During pre-season, Production Crew will work in the shop 5 days a week creating props and scenic elements. Once the Faire season begins, Crew will continue to work in the shop three days a week and act as stage managers on weekend faire days. PARF is an outdoor rain-or-shine festival located in Manheim, Pennsylvania. Compensation is $525 per week, plus on-site communal housing.



DATES:

Contracts run from May 16 through December 18, 2026. This job is full time, 40-hours per week. The Renaissance Faire runs on weekends from August 15 - October 25. Holiday shows begin on November 2.



RESPONSIBLITIES:

Since PARF is a seasonal festival, "production crew" is a catch-all for props, scenic, painting, stage management, and anything else that needs to be produced to make a production happen. Overall job responsibilities include:

-Design, build, source, and/or purchase period-appropriate props and scenic elements for stage shows, immersive fairground experiences, and street entertainment

-Create props from a variety of materials including wood, foam, leather, re-purposed objects, paper mache, clay, etc.

-Assist in prop organization and storage, both in the shop and on faire grounds

-Assist in upkeep of stages, scenic elements, practical effects, and set construction

-Aid in load-in and load-out of festival and show elements such as seasonal signage and large Halloween prop decorations

-Act as a stage manager during faire days, including running microphones, communicating with actors, and assisting backstage of joust



QUALIFICATIONS:

Crew members must be able to work well within a team. Must have an eagerness to learn and to try new things. Must be willing to work outdoors in a broad range of weather, and must be able to do physical labor such as heavy lifting. Any unique experience or skill set can probably be useful in this position, may it be skills in puppetry, sword-smithing, furniture upholstering, or what-have-you. Experience in props artistry and scenic carpentry preferred. Stage management skills appreciated.



COMPENSATION:
Pay will be $525 per week, with free communal housing accommodations.



ABOUT THE FAIRE:

The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire is located on the grounds of the historic Mount Hope Estate in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Each year, they hire approximately 30 full-time actors and 60 part-time actors to bring The Shire of Mount Hope to life with immersive experiences, interactive theatre, and riveting storylines.
