Position: Outreach + Engagement Manager
Reports To: Director of Marketing + Communications
Overview:
Weston Theater Company seeks a creative and audience-focused Outreach and Engagement
Manager to drive digital storytelling, grow community visibility, and support cross-departmental
efforts in marketing, development, and community engagement. This role leads content creation
across social platforms, coordinates email and website activity, manages vendor tools, and
represents Weston through both digital and in-person outreach +ndash; helping shape how the theater
connects with its audiences and partners year-round.
This position is primarily housed within the Marketing Department, with shared responsibilities in
the Development and Education Departments. This is a highly collaborative role designed for a
multi-talented communicator and content creator who thrives both online and in-person.

Weston Theater Company is located in rural southern Vermont. Having an appreciation for
nature and a quiet small-town vibe for the summer is essential. What we lack in population
density, public transportation, and urban conveniences is offset by the beauty of 400,000 acres
of national forests, lakes, quintessential general stores, and a caring community.

MARKETING:
Digital Content + Social Media

Maintain a content calendar aligned with Weston+rsquo;s seasonal activity, ensuring timely and
consistent storytelling
●
Devise, plan, create, and schedule content across Weston+rsquo;s social channels

Lead social takeovers, behind-the-scenes storytelling, and short-form video
campaigns
○
Share produced assets (photos, video, renderings) and capture candid moments
from rehearsals and events
●
Write basic copy for social posts, signage, decks, and short-form scripts
●
Monitor engagement, respond to comments/messages, and grow Weston+rsquo;s digital
presence
Design, Writing + Platform Management
●
Use Canva to create or adapt visuals for print and digital use: graphics, slides, signage,
social posts, merchandise, etc.
●
Support Director of Marketing and Communications in creating and writing core assets
for the company, including press releases, the bi-monthly Weston Wire newsletter, show
descriptions, etc.
●
Support Weston+rsquo;s email marketing by building and scheduling Mailchimp campaigns and
managing audience lists
●
Maintain and update select website pages (e.g., events, cast bios, announcements)
●
Manage shared digital platforms and assets (Meta Business Suite, Dropbox, YouTube,
Google Drive)
Collaborative Video Development
●
Work with the Marketing Director and video contractors to produce larger institutional
videos (e.g., season announcement, 90th anniversary, branded content, etc.)
●
Contribute to creative direction, scripting, asset collection, production, and distribution
Audience Engagement + Brand Presence
●
Represent Weston at local outreach events (farmers markets, poster runs, community
fairs, festivals, etc.)
●
Contribute to interactive lobby experiences +mdash; from concept to installation
●
Support the creation of signage, photo ops, and branded audience materials
●
Support in-theater presence: lobby greeting, curtain speeches, donor events
Press + Media Coordination
●
Assemble and maintain press kits for productions and seasonal campaigns
●
Collect headshots, bios, and creative content from seasonal artists and staff
●
Coordinate with directors and artists to gather quotes or statements for press and
promotional use
Vendor + Tool Coordination
●
Manage digital tools and vendor relationships that support marketing efforts (e.g.,
Vistaprint for signage, Printify + Custom Inc for merch, Squarespace for web, Amazon
for installations and engagements)
DEVELOPMENT
Corporate Sponsorships + Community Partnerships
●
Support the growth of Weston+rsquo;s contributed revenue by cultivating corporate
sponsorships and community partnerships with regional businesses
●
Identify, research, and pursue new business partners, while supporting the stewardship
and renewal of existing sponsors
●
Collaborate with Development and Marketing staff to create clear, compelling
sponsorship materials, including pitch decks, appeal letters, and proposals
●
Conduct thoughtful outbound outreach to prospective partners via email, phone, and
in-person meetings. Coordinate and schedule meetings with prospective and returning
sponsors, representing Weston with professionalism and warmth
●
Support the execution of sponsorship agreements by preparing and sending contracts
and tracking confirmations and deliverables. Assist with sponsor recognition and
fulfillment in collaboration with Marketing, Development, and Front-of-House teams
OUTREACH AND EDUCATION
Student Matinee program
●
Communicate and coordinate with area schools and educators to schedule student
matinee attendance;
●
Support contracted teaching assistants to schedule the moderating of matinee
performances and in-school visits
Young Company Tour
●
Liaise with tour partners, including community groups and local businesses, on tour
sponsorships and collaborations;
●
Support media and outreach campaigns in support of our and its partners;
●
Work with the Director of Production and Operations, and Director of Patron Relations
and Stewardship, on tour scheduling.
The ideal candidate for this role will be a self-motivated, natural storyteller with a collaborative
spirit and enthusiasm for capturing and sharing Weston+rsquo;s work. They will bring:

Strong project and time management skills with the ability to balance competing
deadlines and priorities.

Proficiency with key digital platforms, including Meta products, Canva, and Mailchimp
●
Experience creating and editing visual and video content using tools like Canva, iMovie,
Final Cut Pro, or similar.
●
Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, engaging, and
on-brand content for social media, signage, scripts, and more.
●
Comfort managing and updating Squaresapce website content.
●
A sharp visual eye and commitment to producing high-quality, brand-aligned content.
●
Strong interpersonal and communication skills +mdash; comfortable engaging with artists,
directors, community partners, and audiences.
●
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, especially during the summer performance
season.
●
A genuine appreciation for live performance and storytelling; experience in a performing
arts or nonprofit setting is a plus.
COMPENSATION
This is a year-round, full-time position with evening and weekend hours, particularly during the
peak summer season. Salary is $50,000-$55,000, commensurate with experience, and includes
generous benefits including health insurance, PTO, and paid holidays.
