SUPERVISOR: Erika Johnson, Production Manager
SCHEDULE: Tuesday through Saturday (occasional Sunday or Monday) 9am-5pm
COMPENSATION: $17.50/hr, housing available

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Carpenter works closely with the TP, PM, and other carpenters in the creation, installation, and removal of all scenic elements for productions at Shakespeare + Company.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Read, interpret, and execute technical construction drawings
Use standard theatrical construction techniques and methods in the build of scenic elements
Assist other scene shop staff in the build of scenic designs
Assist in the preparation of each theatre space for the summer season and off-season activities
Assist the Production Manager + Technical Director in other production-related work (such as theater maintenance)
Rig scenic elements and participate in scenic changeovers as needed
Maintain shop supply inventory including making supply runs as needed (in a company-owned vehicle)
Maintain scene shop equipment and perform preventative maintenance and cleaning
Fulfill other reasonable duties

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND CHARACTERISTICS SOUGHT
Knowledge of wood construction and basic rigging. Welding a huge plus!
Knowledge of shop tool maintenance and repair
Able to climb a 250 lbs. rated ladder and work from heights on ladders, in mechanical lifts, and on top of lighting catwalks.
Ability to lift heavy scenic items + materials
Have experience in professional theatrical work or the college equivalent; summer stock experience preferred
Excellent personal, organizational, time management and communication skills
Maintain regular, punctual attendance with a positive attitude and energy
A willingness to work indoors AND outside
