MidCoast Shakespeare Studio is seeking a Stage Manager for its upcoming Summer Shakespeare Festival production of Macbeth, in Belfast ME, running June 2026. This is a paid, temporary, part-time, non-exempt employment on a W-2.

Compensation: This is a an exempt W2 position (not eligible for overtime) with an hourly rate of $15/hour. Anticipated 20 hours/wk for 4 wks, plus tech and performances, May +ndash; June, 2026. More hours possible if needed during tech and performances.

Location: Belfast, ME

Dates of Engagement / General Schedule:

April 15 +ndash; June 30 on an as needed basis
Pre-Production Work: Mid-April through mid-May, 2026
Rehearsals: May 15 - June 19, 2026
Tech: June 20 + 21
Preview: Wednesday, June 24
Performances: June 25 - June 28
Duties / Responsibilities: Stage managers typically provide practical and organizational support to the director, actors, designers, stage crew and technicians throughout the production process. Stage Managers are expected to attend all production meetings (remotely, as necessary) and all rehearsals and performances (in-person).

Rehearsals:

Keeps track of logistical and scheduling details, including following up with Actors re attendance and timeliness
Scheduling and running rehearsals - In conjunction with the director, the stage manager determines the scheduling of all rehearsals and makes sure everyone involved is notified of rehearsal times, meetings, costume/wig fittings and coaching sessions.
Communicating what goes on in rehearsals to the rest of the team
Attend all rehearsals
Technical:

The stage manager and the technical director also work out a smooth and efficient plan for the cast and stage crew to follow during set changes.
Create breakdowns for sets and props, as well as all cues
Oversee load-in and load-out for outdoor rehearsals and performances at City Park in Belfast, ME
Tech week and performances:

Running Tech rehearsals, in Belfast, ME
Coordinating the work of the stage crew
Calling the show and overseeing the entire show each time it is performed
This is a local hire +ndash; no housing or transportation is provided.

Qualifications:

Bachelor+rsquo;s degree or equivalent experience in professional or academic theatre
2+ years+rsquo; experience in Stage Management or a related field
Strong leadership and communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Experience in managing large casts and crews
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Valid driver+rsquo;s license (personal vehicle a plus)
18+ years of age
Candidates with parallel experience such as Tech Director, General Management, Technical Theatre work at department-head level will be considered and are encouraged to apply.
