The Sharon Playhouse, the historic, professional, nonprofit theater located in the foothills of the beautiful Berkshire Mountains, is seeking to fill the role of Non-AEA Assistant Stage Manager (Launchpad Company - Zombie Prom) for its 2026 season. The Sharon Playhouse offers you the opportunity to work alongside professional artists from NYC, the tri-state area, and beyond. Our upcoming MainStage season includes Swingtime Canteen, 42nd Street and Come From Away, as well as, our Spotlight Gala, Writer+rsquo;s Playground and a special reading of The Divine Sister. Our YouthStage season includes Pooh+rsquo;s Parade, Matilda Jr., Big Bad, Shrek, Kids, the Launchpad Company production of Zombie Prom, and a school partnership production of Shrek, Kids with Indian Mountain School.
The Launchpad Company Assistant Stage Manager reports to the Launchpad Production Stage Manager, Launchpad Director and Education Team.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Assist in coordinating and running rehearsals, ensuring the director+rsquo;s vision is executed smoothly.
Assist in maintaining the prompt book with blocking, cues, and production notes.
Call lighting, sound, and set change cues during performances.
Communicate between the director, cast, crew, and production team.
Oversee backstage operations, including props, costumes, and scene transitions.
Ensure the safety and well-being of the cast and crew during rehearsals and performances.
Manage schedules, call times, and production timelines.
Handle unexpected challenges and problem-solve in real time.
Qualifications:
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with calling cues, managing schedules, and maintaining prompt books.
Knowledge of backstage operations, including props, set changes, and technical elements.
Familiarity with theatrical safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Problem-solving skills to handle unexpected challenges during rehearsals and performances.
A collaborative and positive attitude, especially when working with diverse teams and early-career artists.
Dates of employment are from July 27-August 23, 2026. This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Compensation is structured as a weekly rate of $600 (not hourly) and will be prorated based on arrival date and total weeks worked. The Sharon Playhouse is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
