The Sharon Playhouse, the historic, professional, nonprofit theater located in the foothills of the beautiful Berkshire Mountains, is seeking to fill the role of Non-AEA YouthStage Stage Manager for its 2026 season. The Sharon Playhouse offers you the opportunity to work alongside professional artists from NYC, the tri-state area, and beyond. Our upcoming MainStage season includes Swingtime Canteen, 42nd Street and Come From Away, as well as, our Spotlight Gala, Writer+rsquo;s Playground and a special reading of The Divine Sister. Our YouthStage season includes Pooh+rsquo;s Parade, Matilda Jr., Big Bad, Shrek, Kids, the Launchpad Company production of Zombie Prom, and a school partnership production of Shrek, Kids with Indian Mountain School.
The YouthStage Stage Manager reports to the YouthStage Directors and Education Team.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
This position will be the YouthStage Stage Manager for Shrek, Kids.
Arrive 30 minutes prior to the cast call time during rehearsals and performances
Ensure that the day+rsquo;s rehearsal space is organized, swept, and ready
Maintain the prompt book
Take down all blocking in the prompt book
Track all props
Ensure that props are organized and ready for use
Draft and send out Rehearsal and Performance Reports
Run sound for rehearsals and possibly performances
Lead the run crew and manage the stage for performances
Ensure that all creative team members stay on schedule throughout the day
Assist with load-ins and load-outs.
Greet all families
Sign youth in and out at the beginning and end of the day
Engage with youth to ensure they feel safe, supported, and comfortable
Support the director, music director, choreographer, and any other creative team members in fostering a fun and inclusive space
Lead warm-ups and games when prompted by the director, music director, or choreographer
Treat all students with fairness and respect. Do not favor any individuals.
Run lines with students, review music and choreography as often as possible.
Supervise youth during lunch and breaks and ensure that they have everything they need.
Help ensure that students are paying attention and following instructions.
Qualifications:
Experience with and passion for theater productions
Experience with and passion for working with ages 5-16
Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently, excellent organizational and time-management skills, a positive attitude and a collaborative spirit.
Previous experience as a stage manager required
Dates of employment are from August 9-August 15, 2026. This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Compensation is structured as a weekly rate of $600 (not hourly) and will be prorated based on arrival date and total weeks worked. The Sharon Playhouse is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
