MainStage Production Manager +ndash; Job Description


The Sharon Playhouse, the historic, professional, nonprofit theater located in the foothills of the beautiful Berkshire Mountains, is seeking to fill the role of Production Manager for its 2026 season. The Sharon Playhouse offers you the opportunity to work alongside professional artists from NYC, the tri-state area, and beyond. Our upcoming MainStage season includes Swingtime Canteen, 42nd Street and Come From Away, as well as, our Spotlight Gala, Writer+rsquo;s Playground and a special reading of The Divine Sister. Our YouthStage season includes Pooh+rsquo;s Parade, Matilda Jr., Big Bad, Shrek, Kids, the Launchpad Company production of Zombie Prom, and a school partnership production of Shrek, Kids with Indian Mountain School.


The Production Manager reports directly to the Leadership Team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Managing production staff for MainStage
Provide support to the YouthStage Production Manager as needed
Manage production staff for all special events
Serve as the liaison between the Playhouse staff, creative teams, and production staff
Track and approve all department purchasing and ensure weekly organization and submission of receipts
Track and oversee all Mainstage department budgets
Provide oversight to the YouthStage Production Manager for YouthStage production budgets
Track weekly workable hours and schedule (including day(s) off) for seasonal staff and apprentices
Schedule and run weekly Department Head meetings
Schedule and lead Production Meetings as needed for MainStage and Special Events.
Consult with Department Heads on build, load-in, strike, rentals, and crew needs
Create and oversee weekly schedules for College/Early Career Apprentices and High School Apprentices
Oversees the practical execution and implementation of the directors' and designers' creative visions, ensuring their concepts are realized effectively on schedule
As a member of the senior staff, this position plays an active role in supporting and mentoring Sharon Playhouse apprentices, sharing knowledge and guidance in your area of expertise to foster their growth and development.


Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a minimum of 3 years experience in technical theater, with background in production management or equivalent supervisory experience.
A Bachelor+rsquo;s Degree in Theater, Technical Direction or Production is preferred.
Proven technical aptitude and demonstrated leadership and management experience.
Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently, excellent organizational and time-management skills, a positive attitude and a collaborative spirit.
Zoom, Google Docs, Word processing, Excel spreadsheets, and an advanced understanding of budgeting and scheduling is required.


Dates of employment are from April 27 - October 04, 2026. This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Compensation is structured as a weekly rate of $550 (not hourly) and will be prorated based on arrival date and total weeks worked. The Sharon Playhouse is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
