About This Position
Virginia Theatre Festival is seeking a Marketing Lead for our Summer 2026 season to support the social media presence for our season+rsquo;s productions. This position will also be part of VTF+rsquo;s Arts Admin Cohort and receive cross training in front of house, concessions sales, and company management in order support a wide range of administrative needs during the summer season. More info about the Cohort can be found below. This position reports to the Marketing and Communications Manager.

Qualified candidates will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to organize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment. Applicants must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, flexible, and able to work in a team situation. About The Arts Admin Cohort

VTF's annual summer Arts Admin Cohort program offers an experiential and intensive training opportunity aimed at supporting the development and training of future theatre and arts leaders. Over the course of 10 weeks, the Cohort will gain unique experience and skill development in all administrative aspects involved in producing a professional summer theatre season. The team consists of four seasonal staff members, and each member serves as a lead in their assigned area while also supporting a wide range of arts admin needs during the summer season. Cohort members will receive cross training across administrative areas including marketing, fundraising, front of house, concessions, and company management. Cohort members will also participate in professional development opportunities, such as lunch-and-learns with University and industry professionals as well as mentorship and job shadowing opportunities within the VTF Company. Pay Rate - $15.00/hour
Contract Dates - May 20-July 28, 2026
Work Authorization Requirement - US work authorization is required.
Work Schedule - Weekly schedules will vary between ~30-40+ hours/week, in response to workload and production needs. Employees are eligible for overtime pay with managerial approval for any hours worked over 40 per week. Day, weekend, and evening hours are required.
Housing - We will provide housing to seasonal employees who are based out-of-town (with a home address 50 miles or greater from our theatre) or are a current UVA student. Housing will be located within walking distance of our theatres. Housing is not pet-friendly.

Job Duties

In coordination with the Marketing Manager, Managing Director, Artistic Director, and Publicist, develop VTF+rsquo;s in-season social media marketing plan in line with productions and artistic vision.
Engage with company members and community partners through social media to increase brand awareness.
Create polished, engaging, and dynamic social media and e-mail marketing content, including drafting promotional copy, designing graphics, recording and editing video, etc. Log and track marketing and ticket sales metrics throughout season.
Support Marketing Manager in managing marketing and advertising campaigns, including drafting radio, TV, and print ad copy; supporting photo shoots and interviews; recording archival video oif productions; and updating website.
Support Marketing Manager with community outreach + engagement efforts, including representing VTF at community events; executing targeting marketing outreach campaigns; and supporting VTF+rsquo;s post-show talkbacks and Spotlight on Service programs.
Log and track social media and ticket sales metrics throughout season.
Engage collaboratively with Arts Admin Cohort members to creatively publicize the VTF season, including implementing targeted marketing email campaigns, distributing posters and flyers, and representing VTF publicly at community events
As part of the Arts Admin Cohort, this position will also:
Support the company management team with executing company-wide events; staging and preparing housing; and supporting move-in, first-day, move-out needs throughout the summer.
Support concessions sales during performances.

Required Experience + Skills

Highly proficient with creating and posting dynamic and engaging content on social media and marketing platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms
Experience with graphic design and video production
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
Possess a positive, cheerful, and professional demeanor
Ability to work both independently and together with colleagues
Comfortable using technology, such as Canva, Microsoft Excel, and WordPress
Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Must be legally eligible to sell and serve beer and wine in accordance with Virginia ABC regulations, (minimum age: 18)

Preferred Experience + Skills

Experience joining rehearsal rooms, getting to know actors, directors, stage managers, and designers and creating content around production
Prior experience creating theatre or business social media content, including filming and editing video content
Valid driver+rsquo;s license with clean driving record
