About This Position
Virginia Theatre Festival is seeking an Assistant Company Manager for our Summer 2026 season to support the Company Manager and Administrative staff with all aspects of managing a 90+ member company, and ensure that both artistic and institutional goals are implemented and realized. This position reports to the Finance and Administration Director with additional direction from the Company Manager.
Qualified candidates will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to organize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment. Applicants must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, flexible, and able to work in a team situation. Pay Rate - $17.00/hour
Contract Dates - May 20-July 30, 2026
Work Authorization Requirement - US work authorization is required.
Work Schedule - Weekly schedules will vary between ~30-40+ hours/week, in response to workload and production needs. Employees are eligible for overtime pay with managerial approval for any hours worked over 40 per week. Day, weekend, and evening hours are required.
Housing - We will provide housing to seasonal employees who are based out-of-town (with a home address 50 miles or greater from our theatre) or are a current UVA student. Housing will be located within walking distance of our theatres. Housing is not pet-friendly.
Job Duties
Support the experience of visiting artists and staff.
Assist the Company Manager with company-wide communications and updates, fielding requests, and serving as main point of contact for company members during Company Manager+rsquo;s days off.
Provide event support including space prep and breakdown.
Support preparation of company housing including organizing and tracking housing supplies, transporting supplies from VTF office to company housing, staging/prepping housing (kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms), etc.
Assist with arrival + departure transportation from train station/airport to housing as well as pre-scheduled, regular group grocery/shopping runs.
Welcome company members to housing and support move-in day logistics including key distribution, sharing housing information, and addressing early questions.
Collect, communicate, and distribute company members+rsquo; incoming mail.
Purchase supplies, track spending, and submit expense reports with proper documentation.
Support and troubleshoot issues in an efficient and professional manner, in consultation with and with guidance from VTF leadership.
Other duties as assigned.

Previous customer service experience

Ability to remain calm under stressful situations
Comfortable using technology such as Microsoft Office Suite, database software, and project/task management tools
Physical + Travel Requirements:
This position requires a valid driver+rsquo;s license with a clean driving record to operate a VTF leased vehicle in support of staging housing and supporting the transportation needs of company members.
This position also requires the ability to lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
The role also involves frequent walking and standing, including travel by foot between housing locations, rehearsal spaces, performance venues, and administrative locations.
Preferred Experience + Skills
Theatre administration or production experience
Familiarity with AEA and union protocols
