University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is recruiting for our Technical Production MFA program! We are primarily seeking students for the fall of 2026 but would be happy to speak to those interested in learning more about our program for future years.
The three-year program prepares candidates to become well-rounded technical directors through courses in management, structural design, drafting, budgeting, rigging, electronics, mechanical systems, and more. An integral part of our training is the candidate+rsquo;s involvement with PlayMakers Repertory Company during their time here. Students participate as if they are a member of the professional staff of PRC, gaining 3 years and at least 18 shows worth of experience working for a professional Equity + LORT theatre.
Our graduate students receive tuition + student fee remission, as well as an annual stipend and health insurance.
Before submitting an official application to the university, send a resume/portfolio to Laura Pates (email in contact). We+rsquo;d love to meet you and tell you more about what our program has to offer!
