The Old Globe, a Tony Award+ndash;winning theatre and one of the country+rsquo;s leading regional LORT B+ theatres, is seeking qualified applicants for a Stage and Properties Head. This position is responsible for backstage activities including stage properties, scenic effects and scenery operation at the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
+bull; Lead backstage properties and scenic operations for productions in the White Theatre
+bull; Set, secure, maintain, and strike all stage and hand props, furniture, and consumables
+bull; Execute all prop, set, and effects changes during rehearsals and performances
+bull; Operate mechanical scenery and maintain scenic floors
+bull; Prepare food and consumables as required by productions
+bull; Repair and maintain props throughout the run of each show
+bull; Direct and supervise assigned crew members
+bull; Assist actors backstage as needed and maintain professional backstage etiquette
+bull; Read, create, and maintain running sheets; communicate changes with stage management
+bull; Attend rehearsals, tech, previews, performances, run-throughs, and production meetings
+bull; Coordinate load-ins, presets, and strikes; return props to storage
+bull; Maintain clean, organized, and professional backstage and storage areas
+bull; Build props when required and collaborate with the Prop Shop
+bull; Ensure safety compliance, provide safety instructions, and report unsafe conditions
+bull; Enter time, attendance, and project data daily into payroll systems

Required Skills and Abilities
The successful candidate will have the following skills and abilities:
+bull; 2+ndash;3 years of related professional experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
+bull; Strong knowledge of backstage operations, properties construction, scenic construction, and scenic art
+bull; Proficiency with carpentry tools, painting tools, and standard shop equipment
+bull; Able to stand and walk for extended periods; use hands and arms for handling, reaching, and tool operation. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 lbs; frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; specific vision abilities close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, all in dark or dim conditions; Hearing ability adequate to maintain conversations (including on a headset), discernment of alarms, and equipment functions.
+bull; This is a full-time, IATSE Local 122 Union position. If the selected candidate is not a member of the Union, they will be required to join IATSE local 122. Hourly rate subject to the agreement between Local 122 and the Old Globe at the conclusion of ongoing negotiations, current rate is $30.73 per hour with a performance rate of $33.80 per hour. Benefits include IATSE pension and Union Health plans.
