Little Island is seeking stagehands with a focus in carpentry to join the Artistic Programming Department. In this role you will be responsible for installing, operating and maintaining the scenic and properties elements for a wide range of multi-disciplinary events and performances in service to achieving Little Island+rsquo;s artistic goals.
A successful carpentry stagehand will be a flexible team member with a passion for supporting artistic needs, strong problem-solving skills and extensive hands-on experience in theatrical carpentry. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, prioritizes safety and values hospitality in their work. These positions are governed by Little Island+rsquo;s collective bargaining agreement with IATSE Local One and report directly to the Production Manager.

+bull; Employment Classification: Full-Time + Part-Time Roles, Non-Exempt
+bull; Schedule Expectations: The schedule will include frequent evening, overnight, holiday and weekend shifts.

+bull; End Date: September 26, 2026

CARPENTRY DEPARTMENT ROLES AND HOURLY RATES
+bull; Amph Carpenter: $41.00/hour
- Supervise daily stage setup, maintenance and breakdown calls.
- Participate in seasonal and project-specific load-ins and load-outs.
- Operate deck carpentry and/or props tracks during Amph performances.
+bull; Carpentry Overhire: $34.39/hour
- Serve as overhire carpenter, props carpenter or run crew as-needed for project specific load-ins, load-outs, show runs and maintenance calls.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
+bull; Collaborate closely with the Production Manager and other Artistic Programming staff to ensure the successful execution of the technical requirements for a variety of events.
+bull; Prepare, load-in, maintain and load-out scenery and properties, both seasonally and on a day-to-day basis.
+bull; Undertake projects to support the needs of other production departments, including storage configuration, equipment installation, rigging and other tasks as required.
+bull; Collaborate on stage setup and general production equipment maintenance.
+bull; Adhere to Little Island+rsquo;s safety protocols and actively contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
+bull; Perform other duties related to the park and its artistic programming operations as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
+bull; Relevant carpentry experience, including the ability to read ground plans and construction drawings, and demonstrated proficiency in safely operating a wide variety of hand and power tools.
+bull; Experience with props, including backline setup.
+bull; Strong interest in working in public performance settings, where guest interaction is a frequent component of day-to-day production activities.
+bull; Knowledge of aerial lift operation (including scissor lifts and articulating boom lifts) is a plus.
+bull; A commitment to fostering camaraderie and excellence by proactively collaborating and problem-solving across departments.
+bull; Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. overhead for sustained periods.
+bull; Comfortable with safely ascending and descending ladders.
+bull; Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.
