Scenic Charge Artist
Job Description: Barrington Stage Company, an award-winning professional theatre company located in the heart of the Berkshires, is seeking a Scenic Charge Artist to join our team in Pittsfield, MA. The Scenic Charge Artist is responsible for overseeing the painting and finishing of sets and backdrops. This role involves interpreting design concepts and supervising a team of scenic painters to ensure that all painting is completed to the highest standards. This position requires a creative individual with strong leadership skills and knowledge of theatrical painting techniques.

Responsibilities:
Oversee the painting and finishing of sets and backdrops, interpreting design concepts and supervising a team of scenic painters.
Ensure all painting is completed to the highest standards, manage project timelines, and maintain quality control.
Coordinate with the Assistant Technical Directors during load-ins and load-outs to ensure scenic elements are properly handled.
Enforce safety measures to protect all team members.
Be willing to work with volunteers and students.
Skills:
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Extensive knowledge of theatrical painting techniques and materials.
Proficiency in interpreting design concepts and creating detailed plans.
Experience with a variety of painting tools and techniques.
Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices.
Ability to manage and motivate a team.
Contract Dates: April 20, 2026 - September 6, 2026
Weekly Pay Rate: $850 - $950 per week (Exempt with housing available)
Position Type: Full-time, Seasonal
