Scenic Artist:
The historic Cape Playhouse in Dennis, MA- the oldest continuously operating summer
theater in America- is accepting resumes for a Scenic Artist for our 2026 Summer Season
which includes Nat Zegree's Mozart to Pop Chart, Into the Woods, Hairspray, Mean Girls,
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and various smaller events throughout the
summer. The rate for this position is $17-18.00/hour, commensurate with experience. This is a
full time position with opportunity for overtime after 40 hrs a week.
This contract begins on May 8th and ends on September 6th. There is some flexibility to
start and end dates. Housing may be provided.
The Scenic Artist reports to the Scenic Charge Artist. The Scenic Artist will assist with the
paint treatments on all scenic, props, electrics, or set dressing of all seasonal productions
including concerts, galas, and mainstage shows. The Scenic Artist will work with the Scenic
Charge to oversee apprentices and other relevant staff/interns in safe and proper usage of
Paint Department tools, techniques, and materials.
Applicant must have excellent communication skills and be a team player. Skills required
include painting, crafting, and finishing skills.
