Company Manager
The historic Cape Playhouse in Dennis, MA- the oldest continuously operating summer
theater in America- is accepting resumes for a Company Manager for our 2026 Summer
Season which includes Nat Zegree's Mozart to Pop Chart, Into the Woods, Hairspray, Mean
Girls, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and various smaller events throughout
the summer. The rate for this position is $22.00/hour. This is a full time position with
opportunity for overtime after 40 hrs a week. Housing may be provided.
This position runs April 6, 2026 through October 4, 2026 with on site responsibilities
beginning on or about April 27th.
A valid driver's license is required and the company manager must be at least 21 years of
age.
This position reports to the General Manager.
The company manager is a seasonal position that manages hospitality related needs for all
apprentices, seasonal staff, and visiting artists. This position interacts with all departments
and requires strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
Responsibilities include:
● Work with the artistic team to create a culture of enthusiasm, kindness, and
celebration of the artistic work of the Playhouse.
● Serve as the primary +ldquo;first contact+rdquo; for all of our apprentices, seasonal staff, and
visiting artists, creating a professional, warm, and respectful environment for all Cape
Playhouse employees;
● With other artistic staff leads, upholding contractual obligations and maintaining
communication with apprentices, seasonal staff, and visiting artists;
● Management of CM team, including an assistant company manager and supporting
apprentice(s), assigning duties, providing support and leadership, and building a
positive culture;
● Responsible for maintaining and tracking all spending in accordance with the
applicable pre-approved budgets.
● Ensure apprentices, seasonal staff, and visiting artists feel valued and have the
resources they need to do their best work, within clearly defined budget parameters
● Ensure that common spaces, including the green room, are kept clean and stocked
with essential supplies
● Management of apprentice, seasonal staff, and visiting artist housing and
transportation; including but not limited to organizing artist transportation to and
from the Cape, monitoring usage and accessibility of rented vehicles, addressing
issues with artist housing as they arise, and scheduling cleaning/maintenance of
rental properties as needed;
● Programming and implementation of special events meant to welcome apprentices,
seasonal staff, and visiting artists, to build a culture that is inclusive, collaborative,
and connected to the Playhouse's mission and vision; including but not limited to,
welcome dinners, weekly staff morale events, opening night parties, etc.
