The Old Globe, a Tony Award+ndash;winning theatre and one of the country+rsquo;s leading regional LORT B+ theatres, is seeking qualified applicants for a Carpenter. This position is responsible for constructing, erecting, installing, repairing, and dismantling scenery and fixtures made of wood, plywood, metal, and other materials.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
+bull; Review plans, drawings, and specifications to determine materials, dimensions, and construction methods.
+bull; Collaborate with supervisors to plan and execute scenery construction.
+bull; Prepare layouts, select materials, and cut, shape, and assemble components using hand and power tools.
+bull; Operate woodworking and metalworking equipment safely and effectively.
+bull; Assemble, finish, transport, install, rig, and dismantle scenery and stage effects.
+bull; Install scenic machinery, electronics, and theatrical rigging as required.
+bull; Ensure all work meets construction standards and project deadlines.
+bull; Communicate progress and issues to supervisors.
+bull; Assist the Head Carpenter or supervisor with related production tasks.

Required Skills and Abilities
The successful candidate will have the following skills and abilities:
+bull; 0-1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
+bull; Candidates must be able to demonstrate high-quality wood and metal construction skills; and be proficient in a wide range of scenic construction techniques.
+bull; Able to stand and walk for extended periods; use hands and arms for handling, reaching, and tool operation. Frequently lifts up to 75 lbs. and occasionally more than 100 lbs.
+bull; High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
+bull; This is a full-time, IATSE Local 122 Union position. If the selected candidate is not a member of the Union, they will be required to join IATSE local 122. Hourly rate subject to the agreement between Local 122 and the Old Globe at the conclusion of ongoing negotiations, current range $28.27 per hour; benefits include IATSE pension and Union Health plans.
