Hook + Eye Theater is seeking a Production Stage Manager for the world premiere of our latest work at The Tank Theater this spring.
Plan C is a new play devised by the members of Hook + Eye Theater. We+rsquo;ve been collaborating as an ensemble for over ten years, and this will be our fifth fully staged production+mdash;and our first at The Tank. The play weaves together two timelines: one set in 1628 Brussels, where a postmistress secretly runs an espionage network during the Thirty Years+rsquo; War, and one in present-day West Virginia, where a college student covertly distributes abortion medication through her family+rsquo;s general store. Across centuries, Plan C is a darkly funny story about secrecy, survival, and the power of networks.
As a devising company, we value collaborative, generative artists of all stripes, but we rely on strong stage managers to keep us grounded, organized, and on schedule. We+rsquo;ve been devising and writing this piece for a little over two years, and the script is now complete+mdash;though, as with any new work, we expect a few adjustments once we+rsquo;re on our feet. The rehearsal process should otherwise feel much like working on a traditionally scripted show. There is also a devised movement component that will be workshopped in January, prior to the official start of rehearsals.
We are seeking a Production Stage Manager who is organized, communicative, and comfortable holding structure within a collaborative, ensemble-driven process. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working on new plays, can balance flexibility with clarity, and brings a calm, solutions-oriented presence to the room. Experience with devised work or movement-based rehearsal processes is a plus, though not required. Above all, we are looking for a stage manager who is excited to be an active collaborator in bringing a complex, time-spanning story to life.
