The Tech director will provide support and expertise on finalizing the set design and will then be the lead and main carpenter on the build of a set at Berger Park Coach House Theatre at Granville and Sheridan in Chicago this coming spring of 2026.

The TD will also be coordinating the building of any assistant carpenters that may be part of the team and potentially arranging to have at least one person and possibly two available to assist.

Load in will be early Monday morning April 20th. The set will be constructed on Monday, Tuesday, Wed, Thursday, April 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd, starting morning on that Monday soon as park is open and continuing the build that week with four hours minimum for each day, but availability full days, as needed to complete project. The goal is to have the main playable area of the set safely secured for a rehearsal that Tuesday night, April 21st with further work to finalize the set on Wed and Thursday, and potentially Friday to do one last check as needed. Tech rehearsals will be begin the following Monday night April 27th so another goal to have set ready for lighting designer to also work in space later that week of the build, gradually overlapping using the space as the build winds down. Because it is Park District we can't build usually past Nine p.m at night, but are planning to do build into the evening on that Monday and potentially as well on Wednesday evening as needed. This as with other schedule details to be further discussed.


The tech director will also be picking up and driving a rental truck to pick up set materials and other pieces for the load in, much of which we have in storage, to bring to the theatre. We do already have a number of platforms and flats that can be adapted for a set to be combined with any new elements that may need to be built. The truck would then also be used the first day to pick up at additional materials at stores.

The Tech Director will also be doing the strike of the set on Monday morning June 7th and bringing the set pieces back to our storage by rental truck.
