STAGES St. Louis, a professional musical theatre company entering our 40th season, is seeking Production Staff to join our 2026 Season. The Season, which runs from May through October, consists of three large-scale musicals: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Guys and Dolls, and Come from Away. Start and End dates depend on each individual position. All seasonal positions are paid bi-weekly on Fridays. Although limited, housing is available on a first come first serve basis. STAGES St. Louis strives to create a diverse and inclusive environment.
STITCHERS
STAGES St. Louis is looking for Stitchers for our 2026 season. Although start and end dates are flexible, they are generally from April to September. The Stitchers work closely with the other members of the costume staff to build costumes.
1. Required skills
a. Proficient in machine sewing, including industrial, domestic, and specialty, and hand sewing techniques.
b. Confident in asking clarifying questions and keeping open communication with draper and first hand.
c. Ability to take constructive feedback from draper and designer.
d. Knowledge of construction techniques and use of materials, linings, and interfacings in the creation of costumes.
2. Required duties
a. Work in team with First Hand and Draper to construct costumes.
b. Perform any repairs or alterations.
c. Complete notes as given during fittings and rehearsals.
d. Maintain open communication with all members of the costume and wardrobe staff and an organized workspace.
3. Required concepts
a. Excellent interpersonal skills with many different personality types
b. Attention to detail in all aspects
c. Commitment to performing all aspects of job with respect to design adherence as well as safety
4. Organizational
a. Read and adhere to the guidelines in the Employee Handbook
b. Other duties as assigned
Working conditions can include long days, nights and weekends, and some overtime. The noise levels will vary from very quiet to the sound of large machinery. A moderate degree of physical ability is associated with production positions, including the ability to lift 50lbs. Will be required to travel locally on a regular basis and may include driving a company cargo van. A high degree of working awareness is a must.
