STAGES St. Louis, a professional musical theatre company entering our 40th season, is seeking Production Staff to join our 2026 Season. The Season, which runs from May through October, consists of three large-scale musicals: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Guys and Dolls, and Come from Away. Start and End dates depend on each individual position. All seasonal positions are paid bi-weekly on Fridays. Although limited, housing is available on a first come first serve basis. STAGES St. Louis strives to create a diverse and inclusive environment.

FIRST HAND
STAGES St. Louis is looking for First Hands for our 2026 season. Although start and end dates are flexible, they are generally from April to September. The First Hands work closely with the other members of the costume staff to build costumes.

1. Required skills
a. Confident working with patterns for costumes using current costume creation techniques including pattern matching and grain lines.
b. Competence and comfort using industrial and domestic sewing machines along with hand sewing techniques.
c. Conscientious of material waste and proficient in common handling practices, including cutting, finishing, and draping garments.
d. Knowledge of construction techniques and use of materials, linings, and interfacing in the creation of costumes.
e. Confident in asking clarifying questions and keeping open communication between draper and stitcher.

2. Required duties
a. Cut patterns created and approved by draper and designer.
b. Assist with construction of costumes.
c. Occasionally attend fittings as required by draper.
d. Make alterations and repairs as needed.
e. Maintain open communication with all members of the costume and wardrobe staff.
f. Maintain an organized workspace.
3. Required concepts

b. Attention to detail in all aspects
c. Commitment to performing all aspects of job with respect to design adherence as well as safety

4. Organizational
a. Read and adhere to the guidelines in the Employee Handbook
b. Other duties as assigned

Working conditions can include long days, nights and weekends, and some overtime. This position usually requires long days standing, some accommodations can be made to lessen the standing hours. The noise levels will vary from very quiet to the sound of large machinery. A moderate degree of physical ability is associated with production positions, including the ability to lift 50lbs. Will be required to travel locally on a regular basis and may include driving a company cargo van. A high degree of working awareness is a must.
