STAGES St. Louis, a professional musical theatre company entering our 40th season, is seeking Production Staff to join our 2026 Season. The Season, which runs from May through October, consists of three large-scale musicals: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Guys and Dolls, and Come from Away. Start and End dates depend on each individual position. All seasonal positions are paid bi-weekly on Fridays. Although limited, housing is available on a first come first serve basis. STAGES St. Louis strives to create a diverse and inclusive environment.

DRAPER
STAGES St. Louis is looking for Drapers for our 2026 season. Although start and end dates are flexible, they are generally from May to September. The Drapers work closely with the other members of the costume staff to build costumes.

1. Required skills
a. Ability to interpret Designer renderings into 3D musical theatre costumes.
b. Knowledge of how to alter existing commercial and/or previously draped patterns.
c. Competence and comfort using industrial and domestic sewing machines along with hand sewing techniques.
d. Assists Costume Shop Manager with estimating needed supplies and materials specific to the design.
e. Conscientious of material waste and proficient in common handling practices, including cutting, finishing, and draping garments.
f. Knowledge of construction techniques and use of materials, linings, and interfacings in the creation of costumes.
g. Garment pattern creation either by draping on a dress form or flat patternmaking.
h. Strong communication skills.

2. Required duties
a. Drape and pattern costumes to realize the Designer's rendering
b. Communicate cutting and stitching needs to First Hand and stitching teams.
c. Attend/conduct all fittings as scheduled and take appropriate notes.
d. Alter patterns as needed.
e. Oversee costume alteration completion.
f. Cut and/or stitch as needed.
g. Maintain open communication with all members of the costume and wardrobe staff.

c. Commitment to performing all aspects of job with respect to design adherence as well as safety

4. Organizational
a. Maintain appropriate documents relating to patterning and design adherence.
b. Maintain an organized workspace.
c. Read and adhere to the guidelines in the Employee Handbook.
d. Other duties as assigned.

Working conditions can include long days, nights and weekends, and some overtime. The noise levels will vary from very quiet to the sound of large machinery. A moderate degree of physical ability is associated with production positions, including the ability to lift 50lbs. Will be required to travel locally on a regular basis, including driving a company cargo van.
