COMPENSATION: $20.00 - $21.50 hourly
STATUS: FT Seasonal/Non-exempt

ABOUT THE POSITION
South Coast Repertory (SCR) is seeking an Electrician/Light Board Operator to join our Lighting team, working closely with the Lighting Supervisor. This position is integral to the successful mounting of each of our mainstage, second stage, and Conservatory series productions. A great fit for this role means you enjoy creative problem-solving and are eager to be hands-on with a diverse programming season. This role includes running a followspot or the light board for shows and leadership responsibilities overseeing crews through load-in and strike processes. The Electrician/Light Board Operator supports SCR's mission, strategic goals, and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging core values through their commitment to workplace safety and maintaining the artistic integrity of all productions.

ABOUT THE ROLE
-Assist the Lighting Supervisor with prep work for all productions, including gels, gobos, and practicals.
-Occasionally lead overhire crews through organization, install, focus, and strike processes, following the provided lighting plots and paperwork.
-Troubleshooting the plot prior to focus, checking for correct color, wattage, circuit, instrument type, accessory, and ensuring all intelligent units are fully functioning.
-Setup, patch, and program all assigned productions on an ETC console (Ti and Ion). This position works closely with the lighting designer and stage manager throughout tech and the show run.
-Assist the Sound + Video department with the setup and strike of tech tables throughout tech rehearsals and previews.
-Set up all cue lights and running lights as needed by Stage Management.
-Operate lighting console or followspot for performances as scheduled.
-As a board op, perform preshow dimmer/focus checks. Troubleshoot issues that arise and communicate repair statuses with Stage Management.
-Communicate with Lighting Supervisor about major technical issues and if additional supplies are needed for maintenance.
-Interact and record presets in ETC Paradigm controls.
-Assist with lighting needs of other SCR events.
-Demonstrate safe operation of hand tools, including electric and pneumatic power tools.
-Maintain cleanliness and organization of all work and storage areas.

ABOUT THE PERSON
Qualities and skills that best serve an Electrician/Light Board Operator may be:
-Minimum two years professional experience as an electrician
-Previous experience working in a theatre environment and as a followspot operator
-Familiarity with a range of conventional and intelligent lighting instruments
-Proficient knowledge of programming on ETC consoles
-Ability to read and interpret lighting plots and paperwork
-Knowledge of lighting software, including Vectorworks and Lightwright preferred
-Previous experience working with personnel lifts and with fall protection systems
-Flexibility to work evenings and weekends required
-Self-starter able to work independently
-Comfortability with troubleshooting in a fast-paced environment

WORKING CONDITION
Regular tasks of this position may include:
-Climbing ladders while carrying materials
-Operating personnel lifts
-Working at height with harness safety lines
-Lifting 50-90lbs alone or with assistance, including at height
-Pushing/pulling dollies and carts
-Operating followspots in a catwalk
