Job Title: Head Audio / FOH Engineer
Production: Touring Musical Theatre Production
Location: USA + Canada
Contract Dates: 10 Jan - 18 Mar 2026
Compensation: 1800-2000 pw + PD

Position Overview

The Head Audio / FOH Engineer will oversee all audio elements of the production, including load-in, setup of touring audio equipment, setup and oversight of Qlab playback rig, sound checks, live mixing, load out and maintenance of all audio equipment. The ideal candidate has extensive experience mixing musical theatre at a professional level and is fully comfortable with Qlab operating system. Candidate must be a team player and assist with the load in and load out of all production elements.

Key Responsibilities

- Serve as lead FOH mixer for all performances.

- Assist production team with load in and out of all production elements
Oversee installation, tuning, and optimization of the sound system.

- Setup QLab for playback, routing, and cue execution as needed, co-ordinate with stage manager who cues show

- Collaborate closely with Production Manager, Stage Manager and other production departments for all production audio needs

- Manage mic placement, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

- Supervise A2s/Audio Assistant; coordinate backstage audio support.

- Lead daily sound checks and ensure consistent show quality.

- Maintain audio equipment and documentation throughout the run.

- Implement safety procedures and uphold production best practices.

Qualifications

- Significant professional experience as a FOH engineer in musical theatre; Broadway or touring experience highly preferred.

- Strong proficiency with QLab in a cue-based theatrical environment.

- Thorough knowledge of digital consoles, wireless systems, and theatrical sound reinforcement.

- Ability to make quick, confident decisions in a live setting.

- Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Ability to work long tech days and maintain composure under pressure.

Experience mixing large ensemble vocals.
