Description
The Properties Coordinator works under the supervision of the Production Manager of the Aspen Opera Theater + VocalARTS (AOTVA) program at the Aspen Music Festival + School (AMFS). The AOTVA program is under the co-artistic direction of Ren+eacute;e Fleming and Patrick Summers. The upcoming season will present operas at the 2,050 seat Klein Music Tent and Historic Wheeler Opera House throughout an encompassing 8-week summer season. This season+rsquo;s mainstage productions will be Benjamin Britten+rsquo;s A Midsummer Night+rsquo;s Dream and Mozart+rsquo;s Magic Flute. This role manages, procures, builds, and oversees props for the summer season.

Responsibilities
Procure or create all hand props and furniture for all assigned productions.
Oversee a well maintained and organized props inventory.
Pull stock items for weekly masterclass needs.
Assist the Production Manager with budgeting, scheduling, renting, and returning pieces.
Assist in the painting and final dressing of scenic pieces.
Serve as props and/or scenic run crew for all productions
Participate in pre-production meetings when requested .
Requirements
Currently pursuing or graduated with a BA/BFA in a Technical Theater degree with a concentration in props or scenic design or equivalent professional experience.
Candidates should be able to speak comfortably with guest designers and resident directors with a strong knowledge of periods and design styles.
Candidates must have sensitivity to the needs of student performers and staff and a proven ability to work well with others.
Candidates must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and materials or, of greater weights in tandem with additional crew member assistance and be comfortable and confident climbing stairs, ladders and catwalks.
Candidates must have a valid driver+rsquo;s license. Access to a vehicle is preferable for the duration of the summer but not required. A DMV check will be conducted for the candidate hired.

June 4, 2026-August 28, 2026

Compensation
$18/hour plus housing provided by AMFS. Overtime $27/hour
Benefits include AMFS season pass and paid sick time.
