A four-show repertory model keeps Opera Theatre of Saint Louis fresh and dynamic. Our production team brings together seasoned professionals and emerging talent, working side by side in our build shops and 987-seat theater. Uniting artists at different stages of their careers is central to our mission to cultivate the next generation of production professionals.

A working knowledge of theater best practices is required, previous prop building experience is a plus. Interns are assigned to assist on projects based on their knowledge, skills, and interests. The Props Intern assists the whole of the Prop Shop to create the props for all four shows in the season.

Primary responsibilities include assisting with the general functions and activities of the Prop Shop, tracking POs, assisting on prop builds, assisting with props transfers, picking up supplies or last-minute purchases, and learning from the Artisans and Managers.

The Props Intern may be assigned periodic night and weekend work as determined by the Props Manager. Physical requirements include repetitive motion, lifting up to 50lb, sitting or standing for long periods of time, and safely using resin, paint, and other volatile compounds.

Use of a personal vehicle in St. Louis is highly likely. Mileage reimbursement at the federal rate is available.
