Children+rsquo;s Theatre Company (CTC) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Carpenter/Welder. This is a benefits-eligible position that is guaranteed a minimum of 40 weeks full-time each season and is part of a collective bargaining agreement with IATSE Local 13, AFL-CIO. We+rsquo;re looking for a creative and skilled technician with experience in scenic carpentry and construction, welding, sculpting, rigging, and the fabrication and installation of theatrical scenery to join our Scene Shop. Applicants should bring a strong sense of design realization, craftsmanship, time management, and collaborative spirit to this role.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Carpenter/Welder is responsible for production and installation of scenic elements based on designs and concepts the production designer supplies through models and drawings. Work includes carpentry, welding, sculpting, rigging, and more.
This position reports to the Technical Director.

+bull; Sculpting: Foam and woodcarving, texture work
+bull; Stitching: Drops, layout, cutting and sewing of fabric
+bull; Rigging: Cable Make-up, maintenance, hanging of scenery, special projects
+bull; Load-in: Installation of scenery, and storage
+bull; Electrical/mechanical: Build and/or repair of general theatre equipment

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
+bull; Demonstrated skills in and knowledge of scenic carpentry, including platforming, framing, decking, and furniture or cabinetry construction
+bull; Demonstrated skill in welding and metal fabrication (MIG + plasma cutting)
+bull; Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings and translate them into safe, accurate scenic construction
+bull; Demonstrated understanding of stage rigging practices, hardware, and safe installation of flown and moving scenery
+bull; Demonstrated proficiency with a wide range of tools and equipment, including table saws, chop saws, lathes, routers, welders, grinders, and other power/hand tools
+bull; Demonstrated knowledge of materials such as lumber and sheet goods, steel and aluminum, foams, plastics, hardware and fasteners, and scenic coatings/finishes
+bull; Demonstrated ability in sculpting using a range of materials including foam, wood, metal, plaster, and plastics

COMPENSATION
The minimum starting wage for this position is $25.00/hour. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance; short-term and long-term disability and life insurance; vacation and sick leave; nine paid holidays; and a 403(b)-retirement savings plan.
