Position: Properties Artisan

Salary: $700 per week, plus housing provided by APT


American Players Theater is currently seeking applicants for the position of Properties Artisan with a focus on Paper Prop Fabrication.

This staff member is responsible for the construction, alteration, and installation of stage properties, with a focus on paper goods, including newspapers, letters and various labels. Applicants should have a strong background in Adobe Creative Suite products including Photoshop and Illustrator as well as graphic design work. The Properties Paper Goods Artisan acts as part of the 5-7 person Prop team to produce props, set decoration and decorative elements for an 8 play repertory season in two theaters, one of which is outdoors.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Execute the construction and finish of props, including creating, writing, printing and finishing all paper props.
Fabricate other props as directed by the Properties Director.
Participate in load-ins and other work calls.
Attend to paper props and finish notes during rehearsal and tech of all productions.
Assist in the maintenance of props in the course of each production+rsquo;s run.
Assist in the maintenance, inventory, rental, upkeep and storage of prop stock.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Attend regular shop meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
