SUMMARY:

North Shore Music Theatre, a 1500-seat arena-style theater, is seeking a full time Assistant Props Lead to support the high production values required by a unique in the round setting.

Ideal candidates should have a positive attitude and willingness to collaborate in a team-oriented environment. Must be able to follow instructions and be comfortable climbing ladders, working at heights and lifting a minimum of 50 pounds. Must have strong interpersonal skills.

Reports to: Lead Props + Director of Production

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Participate in the properties building, painting, ornamentation and dressing for all Main Stage productions, Concerts, Education Shows, Special Events, and additional projects that may be added during the season including projects at Theatre By The Sea, NSMT's sister theater.
● Build, paint and/or dress properties as requested by Designers or NSMT Artistic Director under the direction of the Props Lead
● Helps maintain the prop shop equipment and inventory
● Assists in both rehearsal and show run notes

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

● Bachelor's degree in Technical Theatre preferred or work experience to match
● Minimum of two years experience in as prop artisan
● Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and image editing
● Working knowledge of construction and painting techniques for materials including wood, steel, fabric, foam and plastics.
● Experience in foam carving, textures, faux finishes and other mediums commonly used in theatrical design.
● Experience in upholstery and sewing
● Ability to multitask and work well under pressure to meet deadlines
● Must be self-motivated with strong organizational skills; a positive attitude is essential.
● Strong conflict resolution skills required
