The Phoenix Theatre Company, Arizona's largest professional regional theatre, located in downtown Phoenix Arizona, is seeking sound apprentice applications for their 2025-2026 season.


The apprentice program is designed for aspiring theatre artists to attain work experience while under the tutelage of industry professionals. Ideal candidates have completed a bachelor's program or have similar industry experience. The program offers practical applications in multiple career fields including Scenic, Properties, Costumes, Lighting, Wardrobe, Sound, and Stage Management. This program is season long, averaging 51 weeks with flexible start and end dates and offers opportunities for growth in the applicant's field of concentration.

Sound Apprentice:

The ideal candidate is positive, organized, collaborative, and professional. Candidates with experience in theatre audio or live performance venues preferred but not required. Experience with Dante, QLab, and digital mixing consoles is helpful. Duties include:

Working with the Lead Audio Engineer and Audio Engineer to execute preparation and execution of large-scale musicals.

Maintenance and repair of equipment as required

Striking productions after closing

Working as A2/backstage during large musicals, providing assistance to cast as well as troubleshooting when necessary.

Assisting with organizing storage, or overstock

Other Duties as assigned

Compensation:

A weekly stipend is offered for the apprenticeship. Nonlocal apprentices are provided with fully furnished, single occupancy, all utilities included company housing in downtown Phoenix close to the theatre.
