This specialized role combines responsibilities of facility management and performing arts programming. The incumbent manages daily operations of a recreation facility with a theater component, coordinates technical and logistical event support, develops and markets cultural programming, and oversees rentals and box office operations. Work is performed independently with latitude for initiative and judgment.

Coordinate building maintenance, custodial services, and technical systems (lighting, sound, HVAC, etc.). Maintain and manage facility and technical equipment inventories, including scheduling repairs and replacements.
Develop and implement emergency operations plans and safety protocols in coordination with Risk Management. Plan, develop, and implement a wide range of cultural, recreational, and performing arts programs tailored to community interests.
Schedule and coordinate performances, rehearsals, film screenings, workshops, and special events. Serve as director or technical coordinator for in-house productions, including set, costume, lighting, and sound design.
Collaborate with community groups, schools, and arts organizations to host joint events and performances. Oversee and manage Box Office software, ensuring programming is correct and concessions are inventoried.
Serves as a first line supervisor responsible for the effective supervision of assigned staff. Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise full-time, part-time, seasonal, and volunteer staff.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations; manage timecards and leave requests. Coordinate with interns and volunteers on production and facility support tasks.
Develop and manage budgets for programming and facility operations; monitor expenditures and revenues. Oversee box office operations, including ticket sales, financial reconciliation, and reporting.
Negotiate and manage contracts with performers, instructors, vendors, and rental clients. Ensure compliance with County procurement policies and contractual obligations.
In-depth knowledge of recreation facility operations, including maintenance, safety, and logistics. Understanding of technical theater operations, including lighting, sound, rigging, and stage management.
Ability to manage multiple events and facility functions simultaneously with attention to detail. Strong knowledge of theater, music, dance, film, and cultural arts programming.
Ability to design, implement, and evaluate diverse programs for various age groups and demographics. Familiarity with trends in community arts and recreation to ensure relevant and engaging offerings.
Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams, including staff, volunteers, and contractors. Skilled in conflict resolution, team building, and performance management. Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with the public, staff, and stakeholders. Ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse audience.
Strong customer service orientation with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.
Competency in budgeting, financial tracking, and reporting. Experience with box office systems, ticketing software, and point-of-sale systems. Ability to manage contracts, invoices, and procurement processes accurately.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and recreation/theater-specific software. Ability to analyze data, maintain records, and generate reports.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical ability to lift 30 pound and perform duties related to event setup and facility maintenance.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel between sites as needed. Certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED may be required.
