Children+rsquo;s Theatre Company (CTC) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Props Artisan. This is a benefits-eligible position that is guaranteed a minimum of 40 weeks of full-time work each season and is part of a collective bargaining agreement with IATSE Local 13, AFL-CIO. We+rsquo;re looking for a creative and skilled technician with experience in props construction, carpentry, welding, sculpting, and theatrical effects to join our Props Department. Applicants should bring a strong sense of design realization, craftsmanship, time management, and collaborative spirit to this role.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Props Artisan is responsible for constructing and executing a wide variety of props based on design renderings, models, and verbal descriptions. Work includes carpentry, welding, sculpting, special effects, soft goods, and more.

This position reports to the Properties Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Props Construction
+bull; Coordinate material and equipment needs with the Props Director
+bull; Interpret prop designs and fabricate items using various methods and materials including wood, metal, foam, plaster, and plastics
+bull; Work with MIG welding, plasma cutting, and oxy-acetylene equipment
+bull; Construct scenic props such as furniture, cabinetry, puppets, vehicles, soft goods and prosthetic appliances
+bull; Create and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical special effects as well as general theatre equipment
+bull; Maintain shop and warehouse safety, cleanliness, and organization

Collaborate with all staff in the furtherance of CTC+rsquo;s goal of being an anti-racist theatre that works towards Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
+bull; Encourage and empower everyone to speak out against racist workplace practices and policies
+bull; Study topics that lead to a deeper understanding of how white supremacy, racial violence, and systemic racism have shaped American society and how that shapes CTC+rsquo;s workplace and the lives of CTC employees
+bull; Positively contribute to the ACT One platform, creating a future where our theatre is a home for all people, all families, reflective of our community

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
+bull; Demonstrated skills in and knowledge of scenic carpentry, including furniture and cabinetry construction and framing
+bull; Demonstrated skill in welding (MIG, plasma cutting, oxy-acetylene)
+bull; Demonstrated ability in sculpting using a range of materials including foam, wood, metal, plaster, and plastics
+bull; Demonstrated understanding of practical theatrical effects, puppetry mechanics, and prop electronics
+bull; Demonstrated skill in soft goods construction and sewing techniques
+bull; Demonstrated proficiency with a wide range of tools and equipment, including saws, lathes, routers, welders, vacuform machines, and power/hand tools
+bull; Demonstrated knowledge of materials such as wood, metals, foams, fiberglass, electricity, fabrics, paints, finishes, plaster, and plastics

COMPENSATION
The minimum starting wage for this position is $25.00. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance; short-term and long-term disability and life insurance; vacation and sick leave; nine paid holidays; and a 403(b)-retirement savings plan.
