STAGE SUPERVISOR
Reports to: Production Manager + Technical Director
This job will remain open until filled, and has a start date as soon as a hire is made.
The STAGE SUPERVISOR manages stage operations and supervises the run crew during all technical rehearsals, previews, and performances. They are a critical member of the production department who primarily works with Stage and Production Management to maintain a safe and productive environment backstage. The Stage Supervisor reports to the Production Manager and Technical Director and will be assigned stagehand responsibilities for 6 shows per season. As the lead member of the run-crew, they coordinate stage operations in cooperation with Stage Management. They also assist the Stage Management team in preparing rehearsal and backstage spaces, as well as other production departments between performances.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+bull; Attend Design Rehearsal Runs, Onstage spacing rehearsals, all technical rehearsals and performances
+bull; Attend weekly production department meetings around performance schedule
+bull; Diligently maintain a safe working environment backstage for cast and crew
+bull; Work with the Stage Managers, Designers, and Directors to plan reliable scenery transitions
+bull; Execute and oversee stage operations in coordination with Stage management
+bull; Coordinate and execute scenery and props transitions with run crew and stage management.
+bull; Maintain the quality and integrity of stage, set, and prop elements. Perform minor repairs to scenery and props as needed and assist board operators with any repairs and replacements.
+bull; Train other members of the run crew and supervise their work in stage operations
+bull; Help set up rehearsal and backstage spaces, including stage management supply, first-aid, hospitality, and tech tables
+bull; Reset backstage stations and supplies between productions
+bull; Communicate stage operation needs with Production Management
+bull; Relate best practices as well as guidance from department supervisors, stage management and production management to other members of the run crew.
+bull; Swing for other backstage tracks as assigned by Production Management
+bull; Work in other production departments between show runs
+bull; Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS + SKILLS:
+bull; At least 3 years of technical theatrical experience
+bull; 1-2 years of backstage show operation experience (or an equivalent number of productions)
+bull; Must be available to work weekends and evenings during technical rehearsals, previews and performances.
+bull; Organized and a clear communicator
+bull; Able to lift 50 pounds and have full range of motion
+bull; Basic familiarity with rigging systems
+bull; An ability to give and take constructive criticism and follow direction and respond to changing circumstances quickly and with a positive attitude.
+bull; Experience with stage carpentry, stage lighting or audio/visual equipment preferred
+bull; Familiarity with Creative Conners SpikeMark software operation a bonus
ABOUT THE POSITION:
+bull; Full-time, salaried position, paid bi-weekly ($42,000 - $44,000 annually, commensurate with experience)
+bull; Monday through Friday/40 hours weekly with the understanding that select evening and weekend hours may be needed
