Head Carpenter (Touring)

Reports To: Production Manager

Summary:
The Head Carpenter is responsible for supervising all scenic elements on tour, including load-in, show runs, maintenance, and load-out. This role ensures scenery is installed safely, consistently, and efficiently in each venue, coordinating with local crews and other departments to keep the tour on schedule.

Responsibilities:

Lead scenic load-in, setup, strike, and truck pack in each tour city.

Supervise carpentry touring staff and direct local stagehands.

Maintain and repair scenic elements throughout the tour.

Collaborate with production management and other departments to adapt to varying venue conditions.

Ensure compliance with safety standards and venue regulations.

Manage scenic inventory, tools, and supplies while on the road.

Qualifications:

Professional experience in touring theatrical carpentry or stagecraft.

Strong leadership and communication skills with touring and local crews.

Ability to interpret technical drawings and adapt to different venues.

Knowledge of rigging and safe stage practices.

Comfortable working long/irregular hours while traveling.

Performances:

November 28+ndash;30 +mdash; New Haven, CT

December 3+ndash;7 +mdash; Potential show (TBD)

December 8+ndash;14 +mdash; Bethlehem, PA

December 16+ndash;18 +mdash; Detroit, MI

December 21+ndash;22 +mdash; Wilmington, DE

December 26+ndash;28 +mdash; Tyson, VA

December 29+ndash;January 4 +mdash; Syracuse, NY

Compensation: $1,000+ndash;$1,200/week DOE + $45/day per diem

Housing and travel provided.

This tour is expected to expand and rerun next year, offering potential year-over-year employment opportunities.
