Position Summary
The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre is seeking a skilled Production Stage Manager to join its production team. A successful candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of stage management, be a self-starter with exceptional organizational skills and possess the ability to interact with diverse audiences, including guest artists, staff, and volunteers in a professional and confidential manner in a fast-paced work environment.

Essential Functions:
+bull; Train, mentor and assist volunteer stage managers, including assisting with paperwork, blocking notation, props lists, cue lists, callboards, and writing cues in book
+bull; Serve as Stage Manager or Assistant Stage Manager for up to four (4) productions per season, which includes, but is not limited to, attending production meetings, auditions, rehearsals, and calling the show
o Productions may include special events, such as the Season Announcement and the Volunteer Celebration and Academy of Theatre Arts skills shares and performances
+bull; Attend production and design meetings and maintain minutes for those meetings
+bull; Facilitate communication between staff and external company members including distributing meeting notes and rehearsal and performance reports
+bull; Maintain all paperwork related to each production including
o Scanning, distributing and collecting scripts
o Collecting and maintaining contact and medical information
o Coordinate and maintain meeting schedules, and rehearsal and performance reports
+bull; Under the supervision of the Director of Volunteers, assign stage management teams for each production and assist the Volunteer Coordinator with crew assignments
o Serve as back up stage manager (or find a substitute) in the event assigned Stage Manager is unavailable
+bull; Maintain first aid and safety supplies in all production and rehearsal spaces
+bull; Assist with the maintenance and set up of performance and rehearsal spaces
+bull; Supervise and train Stage Management Intern
+bull; Mentor and Train Civic Youth Theatre youth stage managers
+bull; Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications and Skill Requirements
+bull; BA in Theatre, preferably theatre management, or any equivalent combination of experience and/or training
+bull; Comprehensive knowledge of stage management, from rehearsal process through production
o Prior practical stage management experience is necessary
+bull; More than basic knowledge of all aspects of theatre, including design, construction, house management and box office
+bull; Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work independently as well as the ability to supervise and train volunteers with little or no prior experience, including youth
+bull; Must possess the ability to interact with diverse audiences, including guest artists, staff, and volunteers in a professional and confidential manner

Physical Requirements:
+bull; Must be able to lift 25lbs
+bull; The physical ability to travel between the various CIVIC building locations is required
