PORTLAND STAGE is looking for people that are passionate about using theater to connect communities, inspiring young people, and working as part of a collaborative team to create and support art. We are looking for someone to transition into the role as Technical Director for the 2026-27 season. Depending on the experience of the hire, the individual will either be the Associate Technical Director or the co-Technical Director for the 2025-26 season. This position is a key member of the scenic department that is tasked with fulfilling the vision of the scenic designer and director within the limitations of our resources.

The ideal candidate is an experienced theater technician well versed in building theatrical productions. Candidates should be able to create construction drawings, be an expert builder and have some experience in budgeting shows. Familiarity with fly systems, fine woodworking skills and experience welding, are also desired. This is a full-time, salaried, benefits eligible position. Weekly schedule is typically Monday to Friday during the build phase and nights and weekends during tech. Compensation is $860-1000/week.
