Kinetic Light (KL) is a disability arts organization that affirms and advances the disability arts movement. Founded by Alice Sheppard in 2016, KL works in the disciplines of art, technology, design, and dance. KL creates, performs, and teaches at the nexus of access, queerness, disability, dance, and race.

Light Board Programmer/Operator
KL seeks a qualified Light Board Programmer/Operator to provide lighting programming and operation services for the premiere of Kinetic Light+rsquo;s new work, The Next TiMes. This is an independent contractor position starting September 22 through October 4, 2025, for a performance taking place from October 9-11, 2025 at New York Live Arts. Compensation is $38 - $45 hourly (commensurate with experience).
Key Responsibilities
The contractor will provide lighting programming and operation services for Kinetic Light's new
work, The Next Times. The contractor will collaborate with the Production Manager/Technical Director, Artistic Director, and Lighting Designer, and coordinate with other design, administrative and production personnel as needed.
Requirements:
● Two (2) years of professional theatrical lighting experience with an emphasis in
programming ETC Eos Family Consoles
● Advanced level knowledge and ability to program ETC EOS Family (EOS Ti, GIO and
ION) lighting control consoles.
● Expert knowledge of industry standard conventional and automated lighting equipment.
● Expert knowledge of industry standard operating procedures regarding theatrical
lighting.
● Advanced knowledge of electrical theory and electrical safety.
● Working knowledge of Vectorworks software.
● Working knowledge of NEC guidelines.
● Skills to read and create lighting plots, typical theatrical lighting paperwork and other
typical theatrical technical drawings.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills.
● Work evenings and weekends
● COVID Vaccination.
Health + Safety
● Maintain a safe working environment by conforming to all established safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to government, city, venue, and Kinetic Light+rsquo;s anti-COVID-19 safety protocols which include masking and testing.
● Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of any equipment or machinery.
● Participate in KL+rsquo;s access protocols within production work, for venue operations, and
among crew and team, in collaboration with KL+rsquo;s Access Manager and Culture Steward.
General Logistics
● Participate in select company production meetings
● Respond in a timely matter to correspondence related to the production
Location
KL is a NYC-based organization with a hybrid/remote working structure. Candidates must
already reside within same-day commuting distance of NYC in one of the following states: New
Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania. In-person rehearsals/tech will occur at KL+rsquo;s studio located in Dumbo, Brooklyn.
