Kinetic Light is seeking a Production Stage Manager for its upcoming production of The Next TiMes, premiering at New York Live Arts on October 9-11, 2025.

Kinetic Light (KL) is a disability arts organization that affirms and advances the disability arts
movement. Founded by Alice Sheppard in 2016, KL works in the disciplines of art, technology,
design, and dance. KL creates, performs, and teaches at the nexus of access, queerness,
disability, dance, and race.

The Next TiMes is a multi-media, immersive work that can be experienced in light, sound, movement, text, and vibration (haptics). TiMes exemplifies Kinetic Light+rsquo;s core belief that access is art.
Production Stage Manager
KL seeks an experienced Production Stage Manager to enable and realize the premiere of Kinetic Light+rsquo;s new work, The Next TiMes. This is a full-time temporary position starting ASAP through October 31, 2025, for a performance taking place from October 9-11, 2025 at New York Live Arts. Compensation is $35-$45 hourly (commensurate with experience); $1,800/weekly flat rate while on tour.
Key Responsibilities
The Production State Manager is responsible for enabling and realizing the premiere of Kinetic
Light+rsquo;s new work, The Next TiMes. They will report to the Production Manager/Technical
Director, Artistic Director, and Managing Director and collaborate with other design,
administrative and production personnel as needed.
Rehearsal Oversight + Management
● Rehearse The Next TiMes, maximizing artists+rsquo; technical and artistic capability, be fully
conversant with the choreographer+rsquo;s artistic intentions.
● Work with Production Manager/Technical Director and Choreographer to develop
rehearsal schedule, show, and tech rehearsal schedules.
● Keep dancers engaged and motivated in rehearsals by delegating, communicating, and
assigning repertory that needs to be rehearsed.
● Commit to maintaining effective team-work within the studio, exemplifying genuine
collaboration.
● Communicate and collect artists, production team availability for scheduling.
● Tour with the Company to supervise and lead technical and dress rehearsals. This
includes working with the artists and production teams to establish priorities and a
detailed rehearsal and tech schedule to ensure a successful opening performance.
● Participate in meetings with the venue and the Production Manager to advance the
venue.
● In coordination with the Production Manager create and maintain cast and crew contact
lists.
Technical Management
● Develop and maintain a prompt script that includes choreography, dance notation,
Audimance app notation, and all other technical cues, relevant cue sheets and
procedural documentation, including preset and running order lists.
● Coordinate with relevant Kinetic Light collaborators to establish appropriate cue and run
sheets for all KL production crew and staff, as well as any local touring and stage crew.
● In collaboration with the production team and the artists, appropriately tape and spike
the floor, set, and scenery.
● Create, learn and call the sound, lighting, video, and deck cues for technical rehearsals
and performances.
● In collaboration with the PM, ensure all documentation (costume and prop setups,
company inventory spreadsheets, photo and video, call sheets, scripts, etc.) are stored
in the appropriate folders on the company Google Drive.
● Maintain and edit Qlab sound show files, including as needed file changes - cuts, fades,
loops, repeats, etc.
● Maintain and edit the Qlab show file for Audimance, the company+rsquo;s audio description
app, as requested by Laurel Lawson.
● Communicate with the administration/production team for small equipment purchases,
supplies, dancer needs, inventory purchases.
● Give input on logistical design decisions and support execution where requested.
● In collaboration with the Production Manager/Technical Director, organize video and/or
photo records of Company inventory, packing, truck loading, + costumes/props into and
out of each location.
● Maintain up to date and detailed records of all budgetary paperwork including but not
limited to receipts and time tracking in accordance with company policies.
Health + Safety
● Responsible for onsite artist physical safety, emotional safety, liaison between artists +
all other departments as needed, including calling and facilitating internal meetings as
needed.
● Maintain a safe working environment by conforming to all established safety policies and
procedures, including but not limited to government, city, venue, and Kinetic Light+rsquo;s
anti-COVID-19 safety protocols, which include masking and testing.
● Adheres to and promotes all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the shows;
participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure
training.
● Ensure execution of KL+rsquo;s access protocols within production work, for venue operations,
and among crew and team, in collaboration with KL+rsquo;s Access Manager and Culture
Steward.
Requirements:
● Working knowledge and understanding of all aspects of theater production
● Skills to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and schematics.
● Skills to communicate effectively orally and in written form and manage multiple
relationships with crew, venue staff, administrative staff, and artists.
● Skills for working with digital technology tools including Google Apps, Slack, Microsoft
Office Suite, VectorWorks, QLab, etc.
● Skills to prioritize and manage time-sensitive information and multiple work streams
● Work evenings and weekends.
● Have a valid and clean Driver+rsquo;s License, with appropriate insurance.

Preferred Qualifications:
● Three to five years+rsquo; experience working in Production Stage Management and Rehearsal
Director or Artistic Leadership required. An ideal candidate would possess strong time
management skills, an ability to multitask, have a positive, forward-thinking attitude and
a keen eye for detail.

Location:
KL is a NYC-based organization with a hybrid/remote working structure. Candidates must
already reside within same-day commuting distance of NYC in one of the following states: New
Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania. Candidates must be willing to travel for August residency to
Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Otherwise, in-person rehearsals/tech will occur
at KL+rsquo;s studio located in Dumbo, Brooklyn and at the show venue in Manhattan, NY.
