POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Props works in all shows and events that require additional help above the Properties Master at the Paramount theatre in Seattle. Events include Broadway shows, corporate events, dance, comedy, and musical acts, among others. The responsibilities include working with the Properties Master to ensure the safe running and supervising of local crews, working with other stage departments to complete the needs of the show. Must be able and willing to work with all departments in the theater for non-departmental shows (ie Non Yellow Card shows) as directed by the Technical Director. This position earns $42.71/hour plus benefits and conditions as detailed in STG's contract with IATSE Local 15.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Other duties may be assigned)

Essential Job Functions:

+bull; Assistant Props shall assist with the offloading of all stage equipment from a Semi or other conveyance consisting of trusses, lights, road boxes, video panels, cable boxes, chain motors, set pieces, rolling carts and all other audio and visual equipment required for the specifics of that show. Most equipment comes in boxes with rolling wheels some will need to be carried and passed off. the Assistant Props shall be required to push/pull/Carry such boxes and items up to 200ft from the truck to the stage or staging area. Every effort is taken roll equipment when possible.

+bull; Assistant Props will help lead and assist the Props crew in setting up any traditional Props elements for the show. This includes but not limited to Prop pieces, hand Props, Weapons, small building projects, cleaning, orchestra set up, etc.

+bull; Assistant Props may be assigned to help other departments to complete the tasks outside the Prop Department. Those duties may include helping other departments load in/out, running deck cues, operating a Spotlight, Lighting/Sound Console, fly rail, etc. They shall be utilized by skill and seniority from starting date as house staff.

+bull; Assistant Props may be required to run cues in a multitude of situations including working in low light, strobe, fog, and other limited visibility situations. They may be required to lift, carry, push, pull heavy equipment. They may be required to twist, turn, squat, climb, bend. They may be required to work in a loud and disorienting environment.

+bull; Assistant Props must assist and help lead the Prop crew in striking, packing, and breaking down of all Prop elements and help other departments in getting the equipment and staging to the trucks.

+bull; Reads stage layout specifications and blueprints and confers with Road Crew to determine type and location of sets, props, scenery, lighting, and sound equipment required for specific event.

QUALIFICATIONS
+bull; Must have working knowledge of traditional Stage Props and be able to work with and maintain all stage prop equipment. (ie Painting, cleaning, Prop pieces, Weapon storage, Pit set up, etc.)
+bull; Ability to safely use power and hand tools to complete work assignments.
+bull; Ability to work from an elevated position.
+bull; Demonstrated attention to details.
+bull; Knowledge and ability to run a Broadway show and cues.
+bull; A good general working knowledge of Carpentry, A/V, Lighting, and Sound Equipment
+bull; Ability to work with a team in all aspects of interaction (house crew, Local IATSE over hire Crew, Road Crew, and Clients)
+bull; Ability to work with the Properties Master with work duties and priorities as assigned.
+bull; Ability to lead a crew of varying sizes.
+bull; Ability to adapt to changing priorities of a show and fluctuating schedule in a positive manner.
+bull; Ability to lift 50lbs unassisted.
+bull; Ability to work a safe and predictable manner under stressful conditions and long hours.
+bull; Ability to be proactive in work assignments and work independently.
+bull; Ability to speak other languages is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

+bull; This is an on-call as needed job function so there is never a set schedule or set number of hours worked per week, it varies depending on how busy the company is. The position is physical in nature and requires physical mobility including: balancing, bending, carrying, climbing, crawling, reaching, squatting, twisting, lifting up to 50 pounds alone, pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds alone. Long Hours are expected 10 to 12 hour days are regular, days do not normally go more than 16hrs.

While performing essential duties: loading/unloading equipment, setting up equipment, staging sets, operating sets. Standing is mostly dynamic and intermittent with walking. (Surface: varies +ndash; finished/unfinished concrete, gravel, earth, uneven terrain, linoleum, hardwood, plywood, carpet).

+bull; Walking +ndash; +gt;50 % of time-
While performing essential duties: Loading/unloading equipment, setting up equipment, staging sets, operating sets. (Surface: varies +ndash; finished/unfinished concrete, gravel, earth, uneven terrain, linoleum, hardwood, plywood, carpet. Distance: No more than 250ft).
