Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), located in downtown Washington DC, seeks a full-time member of Run Crew to join the Stage Operations Department. The primary duty of this position is to serve as run crew for STC productions, outside rentals, and special events. Other duties will include carrying out pre- and post-show checklists, maintaining quality and function of scenic and prop elements, participating in load-in and strike of scenic and rigging elements, transporting theater equipment between spaces in trucks and carrying out routine maintenance and repairs of both performance spaces. This list is not exhaustive, and the employee may have other duties as assigned. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits and a current hourly rate of $24.60, with an increase to $25.34 per hour on August 1, 2025.
Suitable candidates should have an Associates Degree in theatre production or technical theatre, or the equivalent experience and training. An additional 1-2 years+rsquo; professional experience as stage or run crew for theatrical performances is preferred. A keen eye for safety, and a willingness to help ensure that STC+rsquo;s venues are maintained in a safe and orderly manner is essential. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with experience in driving box trucks, counterweight flying systems, scenic construction, automated scenery, rigging, and the use of weapons onstage. This position will regularly be required to: work at height, lift up to 50lbs unaided, and make use of a full range of motion. A valid driver+rsquo;s license and clean driving record are required. Flexibility and the ability to work evening and weekend performance schedules is essential. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between STC and IATSE Local 22.
