Shakespeare Theatre Company, a multi-venue theatre in Washington DC, is seeking part-time House Managers. Under the direction of the Audience Experience Manager, this position serves as a key member in welcoming our patrons to the theatre, ensuring their comfort and safety, and creating a memorable experience. This position serves as a brand ambassador for Shakespeare Theatre Company during the regular season and provides support for various special events which have included past presentations by The Washington Ballet, Congressional Black Caucus, Netflix, and many others. Responsibilities for this position include training and working alongside volunteer ushers, greeting and seating patrons, communicating late seating policy to tardy patrons, scanning tickets and reporting performance attendance, enthusiastically discussing our shows and events, and maintaining a high level of customer care and safety. This is a part-time position with an hourly rate of $18.50.

The successful candidate will have superior people skills, an upbeat and positive manner, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. They must be a quick decision maker, remaining calm under pressure, and able to resolve issues in a positive and respectful manner while valuing the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion. Must be able to confidently lead and direct large crowds. A background in face-to-face customer service is preferred, knowledge of theatre is a plus. Must be available for at least two shifts per production, including nights and weekends onsite in Washington DC. Must be able to lift 15 lbs., be able to navigate stairs, and must be at least 18 years of age. This is a fully onsite position.
