INTERIM ARTISTIC ASSISTANT
Reports to: Producing Artistic Director (PAD)
40 hours/week +ndash; Full-Time
Some evening and weekends required
Start Date: July 21, 2025 (some flexibility)
End Date: November 7, 2025
Overview
The Interim Artistic Assistant is an interim assistant position at the Playwrights+rsquo; Center and will be a key participant in artistic administrative support for the Artistic Department as the Center transitions to its new home in Saint Paul, MN.
Duties and Responsibilities
Fellowship Programs
With the Producing Artistic Director, support the new Fellows Welcome over the following events:
Orientation - July 28-29
Onsite Retreat - Aug 25-29
Offsite Retreat - Sept 3-5
Includes, but is not limited to, setting up and preparing or procuring meals, coffee service, and room set up
Work with the Operations team to provide building access for Fellows to the Playwrights+rsquo; Center
Support the PAD in designing and managing the Fellowship year which includes: monthly check-in meetings, Master Class opportunities, Writers+rsquo; Group formation, introducing Fellows to artistic leaders (locally + nationally), arranging outside mentorship, and other opportunities.
Additional artistic administrative support as needed
Workshops and PlayLabs Festival (October 19-Nov 2)
Schedule, coordinate, and set up snacks and refreshments for coffee hours with playwrights, staff, and fellows
Provide some company management support - airport pick ups, picking up meals for creative/production team, etc
Serve as the point of contact for Visiting Artistic Leaders while they are in town for the PlayLabs festival
Communicate with Advancement team regarding billing, bios, and any content warnings needed for the playbill or front of house
Attend rehearsal kick offs, production meetings, and tech rehearsals to help address any needs in the room
Special Events
Support the artistic team in the planning and execution of events related to the opening of the Playwrights+rsquo; Center+rsquo;s new home.
Participate in all staff calls for event support
Skills/Qualifications:
Experience in any of the following areas: arts administration, company management, stage management, line producing, event management
Ability to bring a welcoming, understanding, and adaptable energy to the office and rehearsal spaces
Ability and commitment to working with diverse groups in terms of gender expression, race, sexual orientation, religion, ability, age, class, and immigrant status
Strong interpersonal skills, including cultural sensitivity/awareness
Efficient verbal and written communication skills
Ability to organize and track multiple projects
Valid driver license and access to a vehicle for various people and supply pickups (mileage is reimbursed at the federal rate)
Compensation and Benefits
This role is a full time, in-person position with a salary of $750/week.
