Job Title: Head Electrician

Salary + Benefits:
$18.00 - 19.00 an hour (plus overtime after 40 hours)
Eligible for Insurance and PTO Benefits after 90 days
Single Room Housing with Shared Bathroom Provided

Department: Lighting

Reports to (Position): Head of Lighting + Projections

Dates of Employment: Late June / Early July - December 21, 2025

SUMMARY: Work in conjunction with Head of Lighting + Projections to plan, coordinate, execute, and maintain all production lighting, production video and special effects needs for Flat Rock Playhouse productions and events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Oversee the installation, maintenance, removal (strike), storage and/or return of all lighting equipment, projection equipment, and special effects for each production as indicated by designers.
-Create and maintain necessary paperwork for each production.
-Coordinate LX Dept. production needs with other production departments.
-Manage the LX Dept. crew duties, assignments, and crew calls.
-Oversee all lighting and projections inventory, including documentation and maintenance.
-Crew shows as assigned. Positions may include: Lighting or Assistant Lighting Design, Programmer, Board Operator, Spotlight Operator, or Run Crew.
-Commitment to the training and professional development of entry level theatre artists.
-Complete required parking shifts during show runs along with other staff as assigned by management

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
-Bachelor+rsquo;s Degree in theatre/related field or commensurate experience.
-3 years experience working in lighting for theatre preferred.
-Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
-Excellent working knowledge of theatrical lighting design implementation.
-Excellent working knowledge of electricity and relevant formulas.
-Operational knowledge of theatrical lighting consoles, primarily ETC+rsquo;s ION and Nomad.
-Operational knowledge of intelligent and conventional theatrical lighting equipment, DMX and network-based systems.
-Basic knowledge of theatrical video and projection systems.
-Excellent ability to use Vectorworks, Lightwright, basic worksheet and spreadsheet.
-Must have a valid driver+rsquo;s license and reliable transportation.
-Must be able to lift 70 lbs.
-Must be able to work from heights on ladders, mechanical lifts, catwalks, beams, etc.
-Must be able to climb 250 lbs. rated ladder.
-Interest in lighting and/or projection design is a bonus
-Organized and personable
