Position Overview
The Lighting/ Sound Supervisor is responsible for communicating clearly with both the sound and lighting designers for each of the theaters productions. From there they are responsible for implementing the overhead lighting plot, maintaining the FOH rep plot and rep sound plot. This involves overseeing the preparation of and hanging of the over stage lighting plot, maintenance to the FOH rep plot, connection, focusing, and maintenance of stage lighting fixtures for each show. For sound they are expected to also communicate with the sound designer, maintain equipment, implement sound specials as needed and mix shows and run the console for the length of the production. This position is full time, year-round. Daily employment primarily is on-site at the Bangor Opera House.

Responsibilities:
-Interpret the materials supplied by the designers and determine the most efficient way to hang the lighting plot/sound plot as is appropriate.
-Hang Lighting and Sound plots as needed.
-Communicate with Production Manager and Sound/ Lighting Designers as needed
-Problem solve and creatively engage with possible ways to implement desired lighting and sound effects.
-Participate in production load-ins and strikes
-Schedule/space use to be coordinated with the Technical Director
-Maintain the theatrical lighting and sound inventory.
-Oversee the repair/maintenance of lighting fixtures, cables, effects, power distribution, dimmers, networking and control consoles
-Help set up projectors/ projector plot when applicable.
-Maintain cleanliness and order in all storage locations
-Adherence to fire and other safety codes when applicable
-Run light focus with the designer
-Assist in planning, research, and engineering of practicals, special effects, and special projects
-Patch instruments as per the lighting paperwork, insuring everything to be in working order prior to the beginning of tech
-Maintain FOH rep plot and build house looks; for Auxiliary events as needed.
-Keep accurate and tidy paperwork
-Maintain lighting and sound budgets, under the supervision of the Production Manager
-Organization and purchasing of all electrical consumables and assistance with other production purchasing, pick-up, and delivery as needed
-Training of light board and spotlight operators
-Operate sound board for shows and aux events as needed
-Make recommendations for upgrades, providing research and quotes when necessary
-Participate in all scheduled production meetings and full staff meetings as scheduled
-Assist in facility lighting repair in partnership with the Production Manager
-Assist with carpentry and facilities around production work.
-Check and maintain the hearing loop system for each production.
-Design work opportunities are possible.

Desired Skills and Knowledge:
-Thorough understanding of the electrical safety
-An understanding of and flexible/creative use of theatrical tech systems (lighting, sound, stage curtains, etc)
-Proficiency with ETC systems, Microsoft Office, G-Suite, QLab, QLab Video, and Isadora
-Basic knowledge of A/V equipment and systems
-Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize and shift swiftly between tasks without compromising safety and quality
-Effective verbal and written communication skills
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
-Strong work ethic and a sense of urgency
-Manual dexterity and coordination to operate lighting equipment
-Ability to concentrate on complex and fine details with frequent interruption
-Ability to multitask and work well under pressure; meet deadlines
-Must be able to lift 50 lbs
-Must be comfortable working on various ladders/ at height
-Must be self-motivated with strong organizational skills; a positive attitude is essential
-Valid US drivers license
-Sound or lighting design experience is a bonus

Compensation and Benefits
$18.75/hr. paid biweekly. The lighting/ sound supervisor position at PTC is a full-time, hourly position, and considered to be a nonexempt employee. As such, the position is eligible for overtime compensation. Any overtime will need to be approved by the Production Manager. This individual may participate in the employee benefit plans offered to other full-time employees as determined by management.
