TECHNICAL PRODUCTION ASSOCIATES +ndash; Michigan Shakespeare Festival 2025 Summer Season

Join the professional team behind the Michigan Shakespeare Festival +ndash; a 30-year-old nonprofit producing bold, inspiring classical productions. Organized under LOA-LORT contracts, MSF is passionate about storytelling that challenges, moves, and entertains diverse audiences.
We are seeking Technical Production Associates to work alongside industry professionals and gain valuable hands-on experience across all production areas. If you're looking to sharpen your skills, expand your knowledge, and be part of an exciting theatre environment, we want to hear from you!
Who You Are:
A motivated, positive individual with a strong work ethic and a genuine passion for theatre production.
Eager to learn, willing to jump in wherever needed, and ready to meet the demands of live theatre.
Committed to working collaboratively and contributing creatively to a professional team environment.
What You'll Be Doing:
As a Technical Production Associate, you'll have the opportunity to work in multiple areas, including:
Carpentry
Scenic painting
Props
Lighting
Sound
You+rsquo;ll assist with:
Building, altering, and installing scenery and technical elements for a three show Festival season.
Hanging, focusing, maintaining, and striking lighting, sound, and video equipment.
Preparing and maintaining backstage spaces and technical equipment for rehearsals and performances.
Supporting changeovers, tech rehearsals, performances, and end-of-season strike.
General production work, creative problem solving, and occasional special projects.
What You Need:
Ability to follow detailed instructions and ask questions when needed.
Attention to detail and dedication to working safely and efficiently.
Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
Comfort with physical demands such as lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and occasional work at heights.
A willingness to be a team player and pitch in across departments as needs arise.
Important Things to Know:
Long hours in the theatre and a variable schedule are part of the experience +mdash; including evenings and weekends.
Team spirit is essential: everyone helps where needed to ensure the success of the season.
This is a salaried position +mdash; expect to work in excess of 40 hours per week during busy periods.
Those interested will be a part of the entire season, starting May 26th and wrapping up after strike is complete on August 10th.
