Durham Academy is accepting applications for an Upper School Technical Theatre Director/Teacher to begin August 1, 2026. Candidates should have some successful experience teaching or working with students. All candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Technical Theatre or a related field; master's degree or commensurate experience preferred. Our ideal candidate will feel comfortable assuming the following roles:

Responsibilities Include:
Teacher for 1-2 sections of Technical Theatre
Scenic/Lighting Designer and Technical Director for Upper School Performing Arts
Theatre: Fall Play and Winter Musical
Dance: Winter and Spring concerts
Music: In The Pocket (3+ shows), Ensembles (Winter + Spring concerts), A Cappella Jam
Recruiter/teacher/supervisor for student technical crew
Technical Director for Kenan Auditorium/Scene Shop
Upper School community programming Technical Support

Our School
Founded in 1933, Durham Academy is an all-gender, independent day school with 1,252 students in Pre-kindergarten through grade 12 on three campuses.
